Little brass weights, the smallest being the size of a thumb nail, used in baking and weighing sweets tea etc in shops back in the day.
Antique metal toy train wheel. Given to Fred Winston in 1890 on the occasion of his 10th birthday. Part of a series initially taken for MacroMondays, but very interesting texture for #TuesdaysTextures.
It's a macro shot, so the DOF is razor thin, which I kinda liked.

Viennese Zappler are miniatare watches whose name derives from their fast swinging front pendulum. They were already brought along as a souvenir from Vienna during the Biedermeier period.
Wiener Zappler sind Miniaturuhren, deren Name von ihrem schnell schwingenden Vorderpendel herrührt. Sie wurden schon im Biedermeier gerne als Souvenir aus Wien mitgebracht.
"Back in the day" you would see several houses with these glass door knobs. (not plastic) Something you don't see much any more but I am sure we all remember these HMM (;-D
(changed last minute....had rotary phone but I see so many of them)
Macro Monday.
Back in the day.
A wood scribe is a tool for marking wood by scratching the surface visibly. A wood scribe is often used with a try square for accurate scribing. A marking gauge is a more specific form of wood scribe used to accurately markwood for cutting, often for laying out mortise and tenon joints.
This is my husbands, who is a builder and surely passed down from his father and Grandfather all builders too.
Day 93/365
We have boxes of these, with holidays, weddings, parties, underwater shots. One day we need to get them digitised!
7/52: The weekly/monthly challenge - Back in the day
I went on a trip with my camera club today. We visited Kenwood House in Hampstead, London and then on to Highgate Cemetery. This was taken in the west side where there is a guided tour. It was really interesting. Highgate Cemetery opened in 1839 and was one of seven cemeteries that opened in London around that time. So I thought it would be good for the back in the day theme.
Here is a link if you wish to learn more about the cemeteries:

I'm having trouble commenting on Flickr today and I may not be able to get on here tomorrow but will try to catch up soon.

No need to send this volley ball into the slider, it already had a smiley face! All it really needed was my sunglasses :)~

Porte-plume et encrier : l'écriture était belle, avec des "pleins et des déliés" et parfois avec des grosses taches :-)
Sütterlin is a font developed in 1911 which is no longer used, neither is the fountain-pen.... unfortunately.

For macro mondays "back in the day"
This little camera was a 9th birthday present in 1977, but looking at an old album yesterday I realised I was still using it in the early 90s!
It only took me 37 years after receiving it to get into this photography lark properly :)
A square crop, in tribute to the original photos (these of course are tiny copies from our awful printer!)
My Father used it for ages. I know the sound very well. Memories.......
HMM and a fine Easter Monday to everyone.
From the 17th century, sadirons or sad irons (from Middle English "sad" meaning of "solid", used in modern English through the 1800s) began to be used. They were thick slabs of cast iron, delta-shaped and with a handle, heated in a fire or on a stove. These were also called flat irons. A cluster of solid irons were employed that were heated from a single source: As the iron currently in use cooled down, it could be quickly replaced by a hot one (Wikipedia)

Happy Macro Monday to you all!
I'm still low on time, but this week i took a few minutes for this wonderful theme.
What you see is the viewfinder of an old Ibso Bellows Camera which is used for decoration in our corridor. You can see parts of the bellows in the background (on the right).
