Macro Mondays theme: Monday, December 4th theme - Buttons and Bows
Hanging on by a thread...
Found a couple of nice buttons - but decided on this "experienced" button on an old work shirt.
Happy Macro Monday to all ...
small glass and copper frame, 2 inches square. At present it holds buttons but it is intended for a skeleton leaf, a dried flower, or a feather...
As usual, I made several attempts for Macro Mondays and have been dithering between two offerings all week. Finally chose the other.
A purple button that usually resides in a box of other odd buttons that I've collected over the years.
Monday December 4: Buttons and Bows
i suspect handpainted since it was concave.

I experimented to create the custom-shaped bokeh seen in the background. This was so much fun! I don’t know how this works or why the shapes came out as they did (I had cut a star shape out of a black circle of card stock that I put in front of my macro lens), but I was thrilled to see these blurred shapes form in the background.
If you’re curious about it, I put my set up in this album: www.flickr.com/photos/marcy0414/albums/72157666880428079
--for the Macro Mondays theme "buttons and bows"
It was hard enough getting Lycanroc to wear the bow. He's not too keen on donning any more gay apparel.
Submitted for Macro Mondays' "Buttons and Bows" challenge.
... along with some batons and bows.
Spears even! :-)
Do check out their faces at large size :-)
(Shot from some 20 to 30 metres away, at high ISO and relatively long(ish) exposure, hence the sharpness suffered. Zoomed + cropped for max enlargement.)

The rolling button or wheel was an important addition to the computer mouse. I always found myself switching back and forth while contemplating what to do next. This wheel also functioned as a button as it could be depressed as an additional operation.
This was my second choice for the "Buttons and Bows" theme.

What if you were in a cave and someone started singing "Buttons and Bows" in a dirgelike manner while playing the uke ? It would sound something like this...
This was done in response to Benjamoon's fabulous video here www.flickr.com/photos/schwulemann/4161822065/ My sheet music said to play it lively, but the livelier I played, the harder it became to get the chords right.
Rhythmic progress can be judged by looking at this video :
www.flickr.com/photos/banlon1964/2614854597/ I have been ukeing for about 2 years - at this rate I will play Carnegie Hall in 2048.

The Mandocello first appeared in Italy as part of the Mandolin family of instruments. It was taken up by the Gibson company in the USA with a series of models made from 1902 until 1936. They had a flat rather than an arched back, and at first A Style bodies before turning to an F Style one. The Mandocello is tuned an octave below the mandola. In shape and size it was similar to a modern long scale Irish Bouzouki.
Garry O'Briain is an instrument maker as well as a musician, so this mandocello was very probably made by him in New Quay County Clare.
Mandocellos are assigned the number 321.321 in the Hornbostel-Sachs classification of musical instruments ( en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hornbostel-Sachs ), indicating:
3 = Chordophone. Instruments where the sound is primarily produced by the vibration of a string or strings that are stretched between fixed points.
32 = Composite Chordophone. Acoustic and electro acoustic instruments which have a resonator as an integral part of the instrument, and solid body electric chordophones.
321 = Lutes. Instruments where the plane of the strings runs parallel with the resonators surface.
321.3 = Handle Lutes. Instruments in which the string bearer is a plain handle.
321.32 = Necked Lutes. Instrument in which the handle is attached to, or carved from, the resonator, like a neck.
321.321 = Necked Bowl Lutes. Instrument with a resonator made from a bowl, either natural or carved.
