October 6, 2010. This palm tree is at the side of the conference centre here in Curitiba. As I explained to people here, I wanted to go photograph some trees in order to relax before my two-hour Q&A on connectivism this afternoon. The session, which was completely unscripted, went really well, I thought. I went "full jazz" on theory - that is, felt free to dive deep without holding back because it might be too difficult (the term "full jazz", which I coin here as used this way, is an homage to the hotel where I'm staring, the Slaviero Full Jazz hotel - yes, it's a fully themed concept hotel. Love it).

Igreja da Ordem Terceira do Carmo, no distrito da Sé, em São Paulo, Brasil. (1632)

Històricament, el primer europeu que va descobrir les cascades de l'Iguaçú fou l'andalús Álvar Núñez Cabeza de Vaca el 1542.///////// Iguazu Falls (Portuguese: Cataratas do Iguaçu; Spanish: Cataratas del Iguazú) are waterfalls of the Iguazu River located on the border of the Brazilian state of Paraná and the Argentine province of Misiones. The waterfall system consists of about 270 falls along 2.7 kilometres (1.67 miles) of the Iguazu River. Some of the individual falls are up to 82 metres (269 feet) in height, though the majority are about 64 metres (210 feet). The Garganta del Diablo or Devil's Throat (Garganta do Diabo in Portuguese), a U-shaped 150-metre-wide and 700-metre-long (490 by 2300 feet) cliff, is the most impressive of all, and marks the border between Argentina and Brazil. Most of the falls are within Argentine territory, but from the Brazilian side a more panoramic view of the Garganta del Diablo is obtained. Many islands split up the falls, including several large ones. About 900 metres of the 2.7-kilometre length does not have water flowing over it. The first European to find the falls was the Spanish Conquistador Álvar Núñez Cabeza de Vaca, after whom one of the falls in the Argentine side is named. The falls are shared by the Iguazú National Park (Argentina) and Iguaçu National Park (Brazil). These parks were designated UNESCO World Heritage Sites in 1984 and 1986, respectively – 12 Agost 2005

The clone I have doesn't quite color up as deep red as some, but it is still quite colorful here in winter bloom. Another easy to grow Ortgiesia group species from the Mata Atlantica forests of Rio de Janeiro and Santa Catarina states in southeastern Brazil. Fairly cold hardy as well, surviving with some foliage damage to 25F or so.

Trini Brazil fans transfixed in front the televisions of RadioShack, watching Brazil exit the World Cup. Everyone, including all the staff, was watching. We went in, to see what was happening with the match, but also to look at tvs. Someone rapped hard on the glass behind us for us to move out of the way. We know what ruled during that match and stepped outside, freeing the view for more people.
