Love the rodeo, especially those enormous Brahma bulls, but what do you do in low light with fast action and slow shutter speeds? . . .well, those fuzzy, out-of-focus images can become colourful, Impressionist art --as if we planned it that way. A good new week to everyone.
One of the reasons I visited the Asian Civilisations Museum in Singapore was to see this temporary exhibition of Khmer art. The exhibits were simply fascinating and beautifully displayed. Brahma with his four heads came alive in a memorable scene in "Lara Croft : Tomb Raider" :-)

Brahma Temple, Pushkar (also known as Jagatpita Brahma Mandir) is a Hindu temple situated at Pushkar in the Indian state of Rajasthan, close to the sacred Pushkar Lake to which its legend has an indelible link.
The temple is one of very few existing temples dedicated to the Hindu creator-god Brahma in India and remains the most prominent among them.The temple structure dates to the 14th century CE, with later partial rebuilding. The temple is made of marble and stone slabs. It has a distinct red pinnacle (shikhara) and a hamsa bird motif. The temple sanctum sanctorum holds the image of four-headed Brahma and his consort Gayatri (goddess of vedas). The temple is governed by the Sanyasi (ascetic) sect priesthood.[2] On Kartik Poornima, a festival dedicated to Brahma is held when large numbers of pilgrims visit the temple, after bathing in the sacred lake.

This Brahma bull was grazing just accross the entry to a friend of mine's property. I think they're amazing animals. Their hump is like that of a camel in that it's tissue stores water. They do well in hot climates.

Brahma is the Hindu creator god, one the Trimurti (Hindu version of the Trinity), the others being Vishnu and Shiva. Though the creator, he is only an agent of Brahman, the supreme being of Hinduism. Brahma is depicted with four heads and four arms.

Mount Bromo (Indonesian: Gunung Bromo), is an active volcano and part of the Tengger massif, in East Java, Indonesia. At 2,329 metres (7,641 ft) it is not the highest peak of the massif, but is the most well known. The volcano belongs to the Bromo Tengger Semeru National Park. The name of Bromo derived from Javanese pronunciation of Brahma, the Hindu creator god.
Mount Bromo sits in the middle of a vast plain called the "Sea of Sand" (Javanese: Segara Wedi or Indonesian: Lautan Pasir), a protected nature reserve since 1919. The typical way to visit Mount Bromo is from the nearby mountain village of Cemoro Lawang. From there it is possible to walk to the volcano in about 45 minutes, but it is also possible to take an organised jeep tour, which includes a stop at the viewpoint on Mount Penanjakan (2,770 m or 9,088 ft) (Indonesian: Gunung Penanjakan). The best views from Mount Bromo to the Sand Sea below and the surrounding volcanoes are at sunrise. The viewpoint on Mount Penanjakan can also be reached on foot in about two hours. From inside the caldera, sulfur is collected by workers.

Brahma Vihara Arama is the largest Buddhist monastery in Bali and this monastery is better known as the Banjar Buddhist Temple. Brahmavihara-Arama is located in the village of Banjar Tegeha which includes the Banjar sub-district, Buleleng regency and is located about 22 km west of Singaraja or 11 km from the tourist area of Lovina. From the capital city of Denpasar to this monastery, it takes approximately two hours or about 100 km, via the Denpasar-Bedugul-Singaraja highway. Because it is located in a mountainous area, Brahmavihara-Arama has a calm and peaceful atmosphere so that it fits perfectly as a spiritual area location.

Today the Liendo Plantation is home to Detering Red Brahmas. The ranch near Hempstead in Waller County, Texas is widely know for its fine cattle some of which is seen in this photo along the entrance road to the Liendo Plantation Home.
Peepal Tree ( Ficus religiosa) is the most worshipped tree in India. It is also known as Bodhi tree or tree of enlightenment. It is believed that Buddha attained enlightenment under peepal tree. This is the reason why Peepal tree is sacred to Buddhist. Also the present Kali Yuga began with the death of Lord Krishna that had happened under this tree only. In Hinduism it is believed that roots of Peepal tree are Brahma, the trunk is Vishnu and the leaves are Shiva. A red thread or cloth is tied around tree trunk for worship. Cutting of Peepal tree is considered inauspicious.
