Learn how to dance with these easy steps on the cinema box office windows to promote "Mad Hot Ballroom."
Two major milestones were reached in the relationship between the gnome and our box office crew.
1. The gnome finally told us his name. "It's Yngve," he said, pointing to the name tag attached to his Cinequest lanyard. Oddly enough, there happens to be a movie at the festival called The Man Who Loved Yngve. Coincidence? Perhaps.
2. Yngve, if that is his real name, finally relented and allowed a few of us to have our photographs taken with him. It was a huge honor to be in the same frame with a such a statuesque celebrity.
Tomorrow is our last day with Yngve. Parting will surely be sweet sorrow.

WKU graduates Darron L. West and Jayne Cravens being oh-so-professional in the box office administration office at the Williamstown Theatre Festival (Williamstown, Massachusetts) in August 1990. I'm holding a snow globe. I'm not stoned - I have no idea what that look is on my face. It was the end of the season, and we were feeling particularly silly. And, 22 years later, Darron went on to be nominated for WIN a Tony Award in sound design.
I wore that jacket - a men's formal jacket, bought at a vintage store in NYC - for probably 10 years, until I completed wore out everything about it. I so loved that jacket...

When it closed for the 2012/2013 winter season, the drive in never reopened for the 2013 summer.
The owner Geraldine Graff whose family operated the drive in since the 1970's, could no longer afford running costs. This was one of the last drive-in theaters to be operated in the San Joaquin Valley, and had been in Kings County since World War II.
With falling revenue, the cost of updating old equipment to show modern digital movies and the burden of constant vandalism finally closed the drive in's gates.
The screen that showed the movie. Gradually falling into disrepair.
