Bosa is one of the most picturesque towns in Sardinia, located on the west coast. Its most distinct feature is its vibrantly coloured historic centre, with pastel-hued houses stacked up the slopes of the Serravalle hill. The town is the only one on the island built on the banks of a navigable river, the Temo, which elegantly flows through it to the sea.
Atop the hill, dominating the view, is the imposing Malaspina Castle, a 12th-century medieval fortress that offers spectacular panoramic views. The lower area, by the river, showcases its history as a tanning centre (Sas Conzas), now a national monument. Bosa, which is on the list of "The Most Beautiful Villages in Italy," is also known for producing the sweet Malvasia wine and its nearby beach, Bosa Marina.

Bosa is a charming coastal town located on the west coast of Sardinia, renowned for being the only urban center on the island to have developed on the banks of a navigable river: the Temo.
Key Features
The Temo River: The river divides the town and is a central element of its identity and landscape. Its banks are home to the old Tannery District (Sas Conzas), an important testament to Bosa's industrial tradition until the 20th century, which has now been converted into a museum complex.
The Historic Center ( Sa Costa ): The old town is a maze of narrow, cobblestone alleys, notable for its brightly colored houses clustered on the slopes of the Serravalle hill. This configuration gives Bosa a vibrant and highly photogenic appearance.
Malaspina Castle: Dominating the hilltop is the imposing Serravalle Castle (or Malaspina Castle), built in the 12th century by the Malaspina family. It offers spectacular panoramic views of the entire town, the river, the valley, and the sea. Inside the castle is the church of Nostra Signora de Sos Regnos Altos, which preserves valuable medieval frescoes.
Bosa Marina: A few kilometers from the town is its coastal area, Bosa Marina, known for its beaches and small harbor, located opposite the picturesque Red Island (Isola Rossa).
Bosa is also known for its traditional craftsmanship (especially the lace-making or filè and gold filigree) and for the production of Malvasia di Bosa, a highly acclaimed sweet wine. It is officially listed as one of "The Most Beautiful Villages of Italy" (I Borghi più belli d'Italia).

Bosa is a small town in north-west Sardinia which lies by the river Temo at short distance from the sea. Its origins date back to Phoenician and Roman times and during middle age it became an important commercial harbour and a centre of production of leather hides. ITALIANO
