Heard the boat speeding up the river and composed on a spot in the river with the pretty light and then waited for it to speed into the frame to take the capture. The shutter speed at 1/60 second helps show how fast that boat was moving up the river.
Herons are a stocky medium-sized bird. Their bills are as wide as their heads, and they have large eyes that aid in night-hunting. Their beak is very sensitive, allowing them to feel out prey in murky water. They have a dark crown and flight feathers and a light underbelly and face.
Herons have a specialized downy feather that doesn't molt and grows continuously throughout the bird’s life. The ends break off as a powder that the heron then uses while preening to waterproof its other feathers. Franklin Park Zoo, www.zoonewengland.org/franklin-park-zoo/our-animals/birds...

The Old Boat
The Old Boat on Holy Island looking towards Lindisfarne Castle at sunrise. This a 5x4 crop made from a vertical version of this image, this one a little bit earlier than the previous version and has a little bit more colour to the clouds.
The boat has a bit more age to it since my last visit to Holy Island a couple of years ago and its almost a cliche shot, with the boat that has been used a good few times by many others.

Motorized outriggers on a lunch stopover at Shimizu Island. these type of boats are used for touring the islands in Bacuit Bay, El Nido, Palawan, Philippines.
Was half hoping for a sunset but alas it just chucked it down with rain. Had to shield the camera from the rain with my open winter jacket. There wasn't too much detail in the sky - looked like pea soup, as we say in English - but was able to get a little detail out of it thanks to the dehaze slider in Lightroom.
I'll be back to this place (mainly for the lighthouse that was just behind me) in the near distant future!
Also, I don't think that middle pillar at the front is helping too much in supporting the boat house....
A couple old retired fishing boats found along the Homer Spit.
Another unique trawler in comments, used as a home, year around. Brrrr.....winters can be long in Alaska.
Thanks for your visit. Always appreciated!
