A big thank you to the ‪#‎NPLD‬ volunteers that braved the cold in Bodie Hills. The group removed an old barbed-wire fence that ran through sage grouse habitat and cut brush around Bodie State Park to reduce fire danger around historic structures. And, let's not forget Adrienne, the mascot, who posed in her NPLD shirt.

I found this graphic on the sidewalk in West Campus, specifically on Nueces and West 26th Street. I only had to walk about 2 minutes from my home to find this. The graphic depicts the phrases "Black Lives Matter", "Defund the Police", and "Invest in Black and Brown Communities." In my immediate community, the topic of Black Lives Matter comes up frequently in conversation, especially during class. I often find my friends and I discussing BLM when there are news stories about the subject as well.

I found this poster as I was walking down the drag, just a few blocks from my apartment. Pictured is a poster that lists ways to support the BLM movement. It includes links to help support the cause along with other ways you can help the cause such as signing petitions, protesting, volunteering, and most importantly educating yourself. I saw a few of these posters up while I was walking, they were right across the street from UT.

King of the Hammers is considered the toughest one-day off-road race in the world. It is the largest off-road race event in North America in terms of both competitors and spectators. It combines desert racing and rock crawling, and has expanded from one race to a series of 5 races held throughout the week that take place each February on BLM-manged public lands in Johnson Valley, California.

As some of the world seems to be turning rightward, the Des Moines School Board has emerged as a public body that is progressive and inclusive. Over the past month they have told immigrants and refugee students that they belong, unanimously approved a "sanctuary" resolution, unanimously approved a contract with teachers in advance of a new anti-public worker law, and last night voiced support for black students and showed it by wearing Black Lives Matter t-shirts.

Richmond, Va / USA - August 8th, 2020: A business boards their storefront to deter damage from the recent protests on Broad Street. Signs taped to boards read "Notice! This is a Small Local Business". A sprayed message reads "We Need to Talk...". Protests and marches have taken place over weeks due to police brutality and other inequalities in communities across the US.

Outstanding landscapes and diverse resources across public lands in the Pacific Northwest demand a professional and diverse workforce prepared for the challenges and opportunities in managing these lands. BLM employees in Oregon and Washington bring an array of skills and perspectives to their work managing these publicly owned treasures. Every BLM office gains from the background and experience of their staff.

When new employees join the workforce, they contribute the latest occupational advances, technical expertise, and cultural awareness to the BLM’s planning and decision making. As the public mission continues to adapt to the latest science and most effective business practices, the BLM expects shifts in staffing needs and placement.
