A perennial spring supplies the water flowing through a short distance in the Great Falls Basin Wilderness, and that reach has cut a narrow and deep slot in the bedrock forming several falls. The steep mountainous terrain includes granite outcrops which provide opportunities for cross country hiking and exploration. Elevations range from 2,000-4,500 feet. Vegetation is mixed desert scrub, with the dominant plant being creosote. In the higher elevations, the vegetation changes to heavier upland scrub with yucca, mountain mahogany, and some pinyon and juniper trees. The Inyo brown towhee, a state-listed rare bird species, frequents the basin, as do desert bighorn sheep.

The Mormon Mountains Wilderness area is a land of mountain ranges and canyons that offer colorful geology, majestic wildlife, and amazing cultural sites. This area is a diverse place: from rolling bajadas speckled with cholla and yucca, to intricately carved canyons forested with pinyon pine and juniper. Finally, the area is crowned with jagged mountain peaks topped with stands of old-growth ponderosa pine. The Mormon Mountains Wilderness area provides important habitat for a variety of wildlife. Low elevations provide habitat for desert tortoise, banded Gila monsters, and sidewinders. Higher mountain elevations provide habitat for desert bighorn sheep, bobcats, and cougars. An impressive variety of raptors live in the area like golden eagles, various hawks, prairie falcons, northern harriers, merlin and American kestrels. Throughout this region some of the most amazing prehistoric sites of Nevada exist. Thousands of archaeological and palaeontological sites offer glimpses into the past.

the Indian Creek Fire illuminates the nighttime landscape Oct. 2, 2011. More than 750 personnel from various federal agencies, local volunteers, ranchers, mining operations and the City of Elko provided resources to combat the Dunphy Complex Fires the first week of October 2011.

I found this poster as I was walking down the drag, just a few blocks from my apartment. Pictured is a poster that lists ways to support the BLM movement. It includes links to help support the cause along with other ways you can help the cause such as signing petitions, protesting, volunteering, and most importantly educating yourself. I saw a few of these posters up while I was walking, they were right across the street from UT.

As some of the world seems to be turning rightward, the Des Moines School Board has emerged as a public body that is progressive and inclusive. Over the past month they have told immigrants and refugee students that they belong, unanimously approved a "sanctuary" resolution, unanimously approved a contract with teachers in advance of a new anti-public worker law, and last night voiced support for black students and showed it by wearing Black Lives Matter t-shirts.

Richmond, Va / USA - August 8th, 2020: A business boards their storefront to deter damage from the recent protests on Broad Street. Signs taped to boards read "Notice! This is a Small Local Business". A sprayed message reads "We Need to Talk...". Protests and marches have taken place over weeks due to police brutality and other inequalities in communities across the US.
