Before setting out on his travel to the colonies, Gideon Saulse de Bothnia does what every sensible Oleander should do before traveling the seas which is to seek the blessing of Poseidon over his enterprise. An offering of different kinds of food must surely please the Ruler of the Seas!

A ranch In Lillooet BC irrigating water from the Fraser river to grow hay, probably their third crop...heading there for Easter with this blessing in mind. May the Sun bring you new energy by day. May the Moon softly restore you by night. May the Rain wash away your worries. May the Breeze blow new strength into your being. May you walk gently through the world and know its beauty all the days of your life. —Apache Blessing

This picture was shot along the holy waters of the Ganges in Varanasi (Benaras) where a new-married couple was getting the blessings from the groom's mother.
This ceremony happens the day after the wedding, early in the morning when the couple is coming to seek blessings from the Goddess Ganga.

I've been wondering to post this but decided it was most worth posting. Every morning before we start work we always start the day off with a quick prayer. Things like "Thank you for the day, weather, Help us enjoy the day and working together, thanks for providing us work" and always "Keep us safe with the equipment" the other day John didn't want to take a lunch so he decided to start a lawn while Steve and myself took a half hour. For the last week I've rented a commercial mower as one of my main mowers blew a gasket and I've been waiting for parts. So John was using the rental mower while we took our lunch. Not too familiar with it as it's a grade lower than the ones I own. So he put his hand into the shoot after removing the bag and his hand was hit by the still spinning blade. Also to note I had just put a brand new sharpened blade on that mower... super sharp. All I heard was a scream. Amazingly he pulled his glove off and there wasn't a mark on his fingers. He said "I should have lost two of my fingers" He was expecting to see blood gushing out of his glove when it took it off. We both said it was a pure blessing that he wasn't injured and how thankful we were that he wasn't seriously injured. At the end of the day he had a slightly purple finger from a bruise where the blade hit is hand. God is so good and definitely answered that prayer of safety. I am just so thankful. A true miracle. I thought I'd share this story with my Flickr friends today.
Again I was hoping on being back on Flickr tonight but I spent all day doing my April invoicing and paperwork. Took me from the time I got up till after 10 pm tonight. I'll definitely be back on this week though. I always enjoy reading everyones comments so I want to thank you for taking time to fav and comment on my photos. Have a happy Monday everyone. :D

Karni Mata Temple is a Hindu temple dedicated to Karni Mata at Deshnoke, 30 km from Bikaner, in Rajasthan, India. It is also known as the Temple of Rats.
The temple is famous for the approximately 25,000 black rats that live, and are revered, in the temple. These holy rats are called kabbas, and many people travel great distances to pay their respects. The temple draws visitors from across the country for blessings, as well as curious tourists from around the world.
Legend has it that Laxman, son of Karni Mata , drowned in a pond in Kapil Sarovar in Kolayat Tehsil while he was attempting to drink from it. Karni Mata implored Yama, the god of death, to revive him. First refusing, Yama eventually relented, permitting Laxman and all of Karni Mata's male children to be reincarnated as rats.
Our congregation put together these "Blessing Bags", in male and female versions, to provide some basic toiletries and necessities to anyone we meet who might be in need.
Our oldest blessing, our son, and his beautiful wife, with their son and his new bride along with their sweet pet Otis, and their daughter with her special friend, our incredible grandblessings, on a glorious Saturday celebrating our Christmas together near Georgetown in Texas. Truly a joyous occasion for me!!! We did our gift exchange early as Ty is a fireman and will be working the Christmas weekend!! It was such a joy to be together with all of them and to just be a part of their day... they were busy planting trees and transplanting roses at Ty & Ellie's wonderful home in the country... he did the fence behind us too. The two of them are amazing together!!! What is just out of the photo is the new white cross my grandblessing made and placed on the side of their red barn... it is a really special statement at their lovely place!!! Taken on what would have been my beloved Larry and mine's 50th Wedding Anniversary!!!

There are those wonderful and perfect dragonfly's that we find.. but every once in awhile I find one that is special and blesses with it's strength. No Pity...there is a reason for everything even if it is just to grow in wisdom and strength.
May flowers always line your path and sunshine light your day.
May songbirds serenade you every step along the way.
May a rainbow run beside you in a sky that's always blue.
And may happiness fill your heart each day your whole life through.
~ Irish Blessings quotes.
“As the years pass, I am coming more and more to understand that it is the common, everyday blessings of our common everyday lives for which we should be particularly grateful. They are the things that fill our lives with comfort and our hearts with gladness -- just the pure air to breathe and the strength to breath it; just warmth and shelter and home folks; just plain food that gives us strength; the bright sunshine on a cold day; and a cool breeze when the day is warm.”
― Laura Ingalls Wilder, Writings to Young Women from Laura Ingalls Wilder: On Wisdom and Virtues
The theme at We’re Here! today is CARD: anything card. I know several people who need a bit of comfort, so I decided to make a card. I used a photograph from my weekend trip to Santa Cruz, California.
PS > I also want to wish our esteemed We're Here member Byzantium Books a very "Happy Birthday"!!
The secret of happiness is to count your blessings while others are adding up their troubles.

This display was set up at the botanical garden when I visited last month, and I thought it would be perfect to post for Thanksgiving. To all my American friends, have a safe, enjoyable Thanksgiving holiday. As usual, we will be spending our day, cooking, eating, eating some more, and enjoying a little football :-) As always, I appreciate your visits and comments!!!!

One of the traditions of Spanish Market is the Sunday morning mass. Artists bring their works to the altar to be blessed. After mass a mariachi processional is lead from the Cathedral back down to the plaza for the official opening of the market. As the Archbishop said to the crowd, with a chuckle, "Well, we are the city of the Holy Faith after all"

I think this will be the final photo I will post for 2012, everyone. I will just take a moment to reflect gratefully for the opportunities I’ve been given since I moved to Seattle almost six years ago. The path I could have taken, had things worked out in DC, would have completely eliminated my chances of fully engaging in my delirious passion for photography and personal travel.
My family and many of my closest friends, ironically, are very grateful the gig I desperately wanted so badly for several years did not work out and, in retrospect, I wholeheartedly agree. Had it happened, TIA International Photography would have been a mere figment of my imagination, and I would never have come to know any of you through this venue. I do believe in blessings in disguise, and unanswered prayers. Everything happens (or does not happen) for a reason. I thank God for His protection and providence thus far.
With my final photo of 2012, I wish all of you a joyful entry into the new year with blessings of happiness, prosperity, success, and good health.

Today is the start of Creativity Boot Camp, and it's pushed me to journal again. Before we were married, I journaled more than daily, but since then it has been infrequent at best. It's something that I have noticed missing, an outlet that has disappeared, but that I'm certainly looking forward to regaining. So, here's to a renewal of old habits, to self-discovery, to the realization of how much of a blessing we all are to one another. (Lyrics on the left-hand page are from the Fleet Foxes "Helplessness Blues".)
