“Believe in a love that is being stored up for you like an inheritance, and have faith that in this love there is a strength and a blessing so large that you can travel as far as you wish without having to step outside it.”
― Rainer Maria Rilke
‘Blessed art thou, O Christmas Christ, that thy cradle was so low that shepherds, poorest and simplest of earthly folk, could yet kneel beside it and look level-eyed into the face of God.’
Every blessing to all on Flickr this Christmas! And in the words of Howard Thurman, let the work of Christmas begin!
When the song of the angels is stilled,
when the star in the sky is gone,
when the kings and princes are home,
when the shepherds are back with their flocks,
the work of Christmas begins:
to find the lost,
to heal the broken,
to feed the hungry,
to release the prisoner,
to rebuild the nations,
to bring peace among the people,
to make music in the heart.

I am trying really hard to count my blessings these days. I have had a challenging job change due to a merger and my whole life has been turned upside down. I will keep on plugging, though

Quite the most exquisite tiny (15mm) flowers I have ever had the privilage to photograph. I inherited this really ugly plant composed of a mass of tangled 'twigs' - no leaves! The 'twigs' are now bursting forth and producing these delicate little flowers in great abundance!

Observing two blackfaced impalas in the thornveldt: first they were nuzzling one another, second this occurred, the senior impala seeming to offer his blessing to the younger impala, and next they proceeded to spar. This was as ritualized and complex as any martial arts ceremony I've ever seen. What a privilege to behold.

Today I challenged myself to a good, short climb. We have an adventure to hike to a yurt this weekend and I wanted to test my lungs out. During this short climb, a bald eagle flew right in front of me - no more than 20 feet away. I had my camera right around my neck, but he was so fast and then he was gone.
When I was sick, my mom came to me in a dream and let me know that I'd be OK. I took this whole short experience as validation.

Before setting out on his travel to the colonies, Gideon Saulse de Bothnia does what every sensible Oleander should do before traveling the seas which is to seek the blessing of Poseidon over his enterprise. An offering of different kinds of food must surely please the Ruler of the Seas!

A ranch In Lillooet BC irrigating water from the Fraser river to grow hay, probably their third crop...heading there for Easter with this blessing in mind. May the Sun bring you new energy by day. May the Moon softly restore you by night. May the Rain wash away your worries. May the Breeze blow new strength into your being. May you walk gently through the world and know its beauty all the days of your life. —Apache Blessing
"A successful marriage is an edifice that must be rebuilt every day."
(Andre Maurois - French author, 1885–1967)
This picture was shot along the holy waters of the Ganges in Varanasi (Benaras) where a new-married couple was getting the blessings from the groom's mother.
This ceremony happens the day after the wedding, early in the morning when the couple is coming to seek blessings from the Goddess Ganga.
