Laying just outside the Death Valley park boundary, up a long backcountry road, you'll find this ore bin. While the ore buckets are no longer there, the cable that moved them up and down from the mine still is. We followed a slight path - and often no path at all - up to the mine and explored it.
We are revisiting my trips to Death Valley, starting in 2003, and posting one photo a day from each trip, in anticipation of my upcoming trip next month.
A line of hopper bins looks lovely in the snow. One of my favourite images from my December Prairies trip.

These White Ibis have descended on the ponds over the last little while and congregate on these rocks while the wetlands are being replanted. When I was in Queensland I learn't these birds have another name - Bin Chickens.
I went for a walk around Lymm Dam this afternoon. Lots of people out walking many carrying cups of tea and coffee bought from the roadside vendors. Every bin was full after the busy weekend and I'm glad to say that I saw very little litter at all. Well done people!!
Bevor ich gleich mein Esel sattel und zur arbeit reite, werde ich mal ganz gemütlich in die Küche tippeln und mal schauen was ich dort alles zum knabbern finde. Falls noch jemand ein Kaffee über hat, ich würde Bedarf anmelden. =) DANKE!

66023 on the approach to Swindon passing South Marston with 6C03 0955 Northolt Sidings to Severnside Sita binliner waste train. At least at this location the seemingly very over engineered catenary is not too much of an issue!
Out for a drive I spotted this old Wood Grain Storage Bin, you don't see to many of these any more and the ones you do see generaly aren't used for their original use.
Slid this one a bit trying to get a bit of an "Vintage" look.

An attempt at over-processing a picture - on purpose.
Inside the Towner Art Gallery and I thought that was a litter bin soaking up the light, but nope, it was for umbrellas.
These warehouses were a common sight in most Irish towns. Usually close to a quay on a harbour or river they had four or five floors with a strong wooden beam sticking out at the rafter level of the roof. T block and tackle fitted to the beam enabled loads to be lifted to each of the upper levels!
This one was on the quay in Askeaton on the river Deel and close to the Shannon estuary! Askeaton was the centre of power for the Norman FitzGerald family and they traded with France, Spain and the continent from here.
