I just had the most heavenly nap. My run today really zapped my energy, so it was nice to just completely relax this afternoon.

I don't know what it is with me and musical instruments, but I love photographing them. They're just so beautiful. :)

Ristorante Da Raffaele - Venezia / Venice - Veneto - Italia / Italy

A bottle of white, a bottle of red,

Perhaps a bottle of rosé instead.

We'll get a table near the street

In our old familiar place

You and I - face to face hm, hm

A bottle of red, a bottle of white

It all depends upon your appetite

I'll meet you any time you want

In our Italian Restaurant.

Things are okay with me these days

I got a good job, I got a good office

I got a new wife, got a new life

And the family is fine

Oh we lost touch long ago

You lost weight - I did not know

you could ever look so nice after so much time.

Do you remember those days hanging out at the village green?

Engineer boots, leather jackets and tight blue jeans

Oh you drop a dime in the box play a song about New Orleans

Cold beer, hot lights, my sweet romantic teenage nights ooh, ooh

Oh, oh, oh, oh…..

Brenda and Eddie were the popular steadies

And the king and the queen of the prom

Riding around with the car top down and the radio on

Nobody looked any finer

Or was more of a hit at the Parkway Diner

We never knew we could want more than that out of life

Surely Brenda and Eddie would always know how to survive.

Oh, oh, oh, oh…..

Brenda and Eddie were still going steady in the summer of '75

When they decided the marriage would be at the end of July

Everyone said they were crazy

"Brenda you know that you're much too lazy

and Eddie could never afford to live that kind of life."

Oh, but there we were wavin' Brenda and Eddie goodbye.

Oh, oh, oh

Well they got an apartment with deep pile carpets

And a couple of paintings from Sears

A big waterbed that they bought with the bread

They had saved for a couple of years

but they started to fight when the money got tight

And they just didn't count on the tears.

Oh, oh yeah rock 'n roll

Oh, oh, oh

Well, they lived for a while in a very nice style

But it's always the same in the end

They got a divorce as a matter of course

And they parted the closest of friends

Then the king and the queen went back to the green

But you could never go back there again

Oh, oh

Brenda and Eddie had had it already by the summer of '75

From the high to the low to the end of the show

For the rest of their lives

They couldn't go back to the greasers

The best they could do was pick up their pieces

We always knew they would both find a way to get by

Oh and that's all I heard about Brenda and Eddie

Can't tell you more 'cause I've told you already

And here we are wavin' Brenda and Eddie goodbye

Oh, oh, oh

Oh, oh, oh

Oh, oh, oh

Yeah

A bottle of red, a bottle of white,

Whatever kind of mood you're in tonight

I'll meet you anytime you want

In our Italian Restaurant.

(Billy Joel - "Scenes From An Italian Restaurant", from the album "The Stranger", 1977)

JUST THE WAY YOU ARE

Don't go changing, to try and please me

You never let me down before

Don't imagine you're too familiar

And I don't see you anymore

I wouldn't leave you in times of trouble

We never could have come this far

I took the good times, I'll take the bad times

I'll take you just the way you are

Don't go trying some new fashion

Don't change the color of your hair

You always have my unspoken passion

Although I might not seem to care

I don't want clever conversation

I never want to work that hard

I just want someone that I can talk to

I want you just the way you are.

I need to know that you will always be

The same old someone that I knew

What will it take 'till you believe in me

The way that I believe in you.

I said I love you, and that's forever

And this I promise from the heart

I could not love you any better

I love you just the way you are.

Unlike Irene, Joel dropped out of Long Island's Hicksville High School. He did not graduate with his class in 1967 as he missed a crucial English exam. In 1992 he submitted essays to the school board in lieu of the missed exam. They were accepted, and he was awarded his Hicksville High School diploma 25 years late.

We went to see Elton John and Billy Joel last night. The concert was FABULOUS! This is my first adventure taking pictures at a concert. I have been to several hundred of them but have never taken any pictures. We were not allowed to take into the show any big comeras but we could take small ones. The show sold out in ten minutes so our tickets were in the nose bleed section. Under the circumstances I thought these turned out pretty good. Don took some also and will be posting them on his stream.

She said, "I've eaten way too much junk during the Thanksgiving holidays."

he sells the consumer to the product.

He does not improve and simplify his merchandise,

New music for my trip to Colorado! Every year I get new music to listen to for the long drive to Colorado for my yearly mountain adventures. This year the drive will be a bit longer (I have to spend the night on the road just to get there), but I am going to incorporate music from previous years- both albums that were really great and are always in my mix, as well as albums that I need to go back and re-visit!

I've been playing the piano since I was probably around 6 years old. I took lessons from a woman named Mrs. Waggoner who lived down the street from us. I quit lessons as soon as my mom would let me, which I think was probably sometime around 6th grade. But I never quit playing. I simply taught myself the songs I wanted to play.

This piano is actually my mother's. I used to tell her that I wanted to take it and put it in my own house since I play it more than she does, but her response for as long as I can remember has always been "everything will be yours one day." Talk about morbid.

Now I play whenever I visit my parents' house. I'm fantastic at the songs I know (though since it's been years since I've had solid time to practice, some of my favorites are a little rusty), and I can teach myself any song I want if given enough time. But I'm nowhere near as good as Andy. He used to play piano in competitions. Whenever his folks went out of town during college, he'd have everyone over for a party and sometime around 2 or 3am, when he was good and drunk, he'd sit down and start blazing away at the piano. That's back before we were dating, when we were just friends. And I still remember watching him in awe as his hands raced across the keys, playing beautiful, complicated music at the wee hours of the morning. I think I may have been falling in love with him at the time without even realizing it.

Few memories from a fantastic night at The Principality Stadium in Cardiff to see Billy Joel, opening act was Chris Isaak. You're not really allowed cameras at these events but was happy to grab a few memory shots. My sister and I decided to opt for standing tickets at the front, and forgo seats. That meant around 5 hours of standing, dancing, singing, but was totally worth it. Having the biggest part of 70,000 people behind and above you, singing all the words and waving their phones was quite something. He was just amazing.

Happy 70th birthday to Billy Joel, one of my favorite singers of all time. I have been a Billy Joel fan since as long as I can remember, and ten years ago I had the pleasure of watching him perform at Gillette Stadium alongside Elton John, where I took this photo.

On St Patrick's Day, I went to see Sir Elton John and Billy Joel in concert. It was hosted at the new BOK Center, a venue that has finally put Tulsa on the concert map just this year!! I've never seen either of these legendary artists although I've been a fan of Elton John since my youth. The tour was named "Face to Face" and as you can see with Elton on the left and BJ on the right, they are indeed facing one another. But this was no piano bar performance. They each had their own sets, but the height of the concert was when they performed one another's music at the end - with both bands. Count them. How many drummers to you see? They were all playing. That's four drummers, four keyboardists, four guitarists, bass, horns, and two legendary singers. The acoustics were phenomenal in this facility that was engineered for sound. We were seated in the nose bleed section, but still had a stellar auditory experience... lol.

Blessed from birth with a particularly fabulous set of teeth, Reginald was admired wherever and whenever he played himself. His rendition of Bohemian Rhapsody was particularly splendid, if a little limited in the number of octaves covered.

He could have been rich and famous, filling stadiums across the planet, but he was bankrupted by excruciatingly expensive dentistry bills and the constant plinking and plonking noise he made as he ate, drove him quite insane.

Poor chap.

Yup.

Anyway...er maybe you'd love to:

I never said you had to offer me a second chance

I never said I was a victim of circumstance

I still belong, don't get me wrong

And you can speak your mind

But not on my time

They will tell you you can't sleep alone

In a strange place

Then they'll tell you you can't sleep

With somebody else

Ah, but sooner or later you sleep

In your own space

Either way it's okay

You wake up with yourself

I don't need you to worry for me cause I'm alright

I don't want you to tell me it's time to come home

I don't care what you say anymore, this is my life

Go ahead with your own life and leave me alone

The electric Rhodes piano played a tremendous role in music, used by Jazz, R& B, and Rock keyboardists. Ray Charles played one on "Shake A Tailfeather - if you haven't heard this song check it out on the Blues Brothers Soundtrack ) , Stevie Wonder, Chick Corea, Billy Joel, Joe Zawinul, Donny Hathaway, Billy Preston ( especially while playing with The Beatles ) , Jamiroquai, Herbie Hancock, Steely Dan, and Pink Floyd all used its distinctive tone at various parts of their careers.
