I found this yesterday below the large Tupelo tree in my yard. It's light as a feather, yet look at the dense growth rings! It's about 10 inches long and 3 inches wide, likely longer before it broke off. This limb grew for many, many years! It provided a perch for all kinds of birds and small mammals, and lived through all the extremes of the four seasons. At some point it stopped growing and likely still remained on the tree for years until it was knocked off by a heavier branch recently during a storm. It had many, many Better Days prior to being broken off. But its Better Days continue in a new way: as a multi-ringed document of a long and helpful part of the old Tupelo tree.

After a rainy day in Newfoundland's Gros Morne a couple of years ago, we drove North to explore some of the coastal fishing villages. Many of these places have seen better days but the character remains and the people still making a living there were wonderfully friendly. I'd go back in a heartbeat.

An old barn in Aldergrove, has seen better days. Still a nice Spring scene. The Chestnut tree on the left is in full bloom. An old one for Fence Friday.
A small garden gnome my wife bought me a long time ago. It’s well weathered and has definitely seen better days.
Me trying the basic workings of the camera settings on my iPhone. So this was one of my many attempts at being creative. An old pair of trainers that's seen better days but I can't discard, I use these as slippers I brush the drive in them I use them daily.

So we went for a walk and this is one of the many shots I took! The Colors...blew me away! (I did NO Editing at ALL!)
Oregon - The Hood River Fruit loop is located in the beautiful Hood River Valley at the foot of majestic Mt. Hood. The twenty-nine member stands offer you a variety of wines, fruits, vegetables, flowers, ciders, and food. While there are twenty-nine stands, they are not all open at the same times and dates. Many of the wineries are open all year. Most of the fruit stands open during harvest time, which changes every year. Cooler weather means that the fruit is harvested later, warmer weather makes for an earlier season. Specialty stands, such as blueberries, have a shorter season.
This particular haunting individual looks like he has lost all hope in life.
While taking the Big B touring bus out of Union Station in Washington DC I was able to capture images of downtrodden individuals on the streets of our capital.

So I have been to this manor house plenty of times but some how I feel this might be my last visit. It has changed hands and the new owner appears to be up to the challenge of doing something with it. Which is a very positive thing, I can't help but feel a tiny bit sad though.

This is the photo that I took to use on my Christmas cards this year. I think I got a total of three of them made and sent. I have an artificial tree up and decorated, but decided I wanted the smell of Christmas, so got a small tree, that never got decorated ( I think it will become an outdoor Christmas tree that I will decorate with treats for the birds after the holidays.), never baked cookies and I am still wrapping gifts. But I've decided that I am just going to go with it and not get upset by it this year. It is what it is...
And I am expecting this new year that we are going into to be a year of changes... of good things.... afterall, my horoscope says it is so!! Better Days!!
