... by a dam site.

It's actually a few miles from the dam but it has a dam(n) good reputation!

According to many European old maps, the river is named as Menam or Mae Nam, the Thai word for river (Me or Mae is "Mother", Nam is "Water"). The name Chao Phraya is a Thai feudal title, which can be translated as General or Lord. In the English-language media in Thailand the name is often translated as River of Kings.

The cities along the Chao Phraya are Nakhon Sawan, Uthai Thani, Chainat, Singburi, Ang Thong, Ayutthaya, Pathum Thani, Nonthaburi, Bangkok and Samut Prakan, listed from north to south. These cities are among the most historically significant and densely populated settlements of Thailand precisely because of their access to the waterway.

A big thank you to Mr. Wiki.. :-)

========================

Merci Mr. Wikipedia.. :-)

:Not my mug, but my husbands. Here's to all the amazing teachers out there, making it work for their kids. Getting lesson plans ready for them online, and putting in just as many hours at home as they do in the classroom.

Smile on Saturday theme: “LIGHT & SHADE"

😊 Thanks to everyone who took the time to view, comment, and fave my photo. It’s really appreciated. 😊

Bry and I spent 4 days down at the Best Friends Sanctuary outside Kanab, it was our first extended trip since the birth of our daughter in January. Needless to say we haven't really done much/any nightscape imaging for many months, I decided I coudln't pass up on the good weather we had one of the nights so I dragged myself out of bed around 1am and shot a pano in front of the cottage. Even with some light pollution from Kanab, just below the core area, the Sanctuary has very dark skies. This was also just the second time I've used my ZWO ASI2600mc Pro to do nightscape imaging, still working through the post processing workflow to refine all that since nobody else is really using those cameras for this purpose. I paired the camera with a Voigtlander 50mm APO along with a 3D printed adapter for the E-mount lens since ZWO doesn't make an adapter that allows those lenses to be used on their cameras. I need to dial in a little bit of tilt with the lens, but it's such a great lens it's hardly noticeable anyways.

All in all a great trip with the baby, hopefully Bry can get out and do some shooting during our next trip which will probably be Yellowstone in late June. Time flies with a baby, that's for sure.

35 exposures went into this pano, all 2 minutes at f2.2 and gain 100 on the ASI2600mc Pro with a Voigtlander 50mm APO lens, Fornax Lightrack II tracking mount.

As ever I love to see the Turnstones at Southwold, and on a dull, cold January day yesterday that didn't provide good conditions for photography, both the Turnstones and I just got on with it, putting our best foot forward!

I found these best of friends at a farm in Pennsylvania not long ago. The cat and pig were just hanging out in the pig pen.

Thank You, Friend

Thank you, friend, for all the things

That mean so much to me--

For concern and understanding

You give abundantly.

Thanks for listening with your heart;

For cheering me when I'm blue;

For bringing out the best in me;

And just for being you.

Thanks for in-depth conversation

That stimulates my brain;

For silly times we laugh out loud;

For things I can't explain.

For looking past my flaws and faults;

For all the time you spend;

For all the kind things that you do,

Thank you; thank you, friend.

I dashed out the door with camera pointed upward, when my husband alerted me that Sandhill Cranes were calling in the distant sky. I could not get all of the birds into the shot, but there were approximately 70-80.

Happy 11th anniversary to PhotoJennic, the best adventure partner ever! May we have many, many more!

SLR 512 working on a Sunday was also making it's best impression of 394 from the day's of CN and even SLR's Emons past. This little GP40 was working hard to switch the big cuts of cars (basically LPG loads) so a second unit would have helped both of us out!

I rarely come out of the AI bubble, but today...a moment with my bestie captured my heart. Sometimes you just have to cuddle up with someone you love and celebrate a wonderful friendship.

Oh, you're the best friend that I ever had

Been with you such a long time

You're my sunshine

And I want you to know

That my feelings are true

I really love you

Wilbur clambered far out on a point below the main viewing area looking for the best vantage point for sunset at the Grand Canyon.

One of the tasks occupying my time recently is to prepare a book of photographs of Wilbur's adventures over the past year for his children for Christmas. So I will be posting some of my finds for the book here on Flickr.

My best wishes for a very happy New Year to all of you and your families. Thanks for your friendship here at flickr, you all give me so much inspiration and motivation to find my own way in photography. And I hope you will always have great light in 2017
