“Bend down low, let me tell you what I know now
Bend down low, let me tell you what I know
Oh! Fisherman row to reap what you sow now
Oh, tell you all I know (Oo-oh!)
You have got to let me go now (Oo-oh!)
And all you have got to do
(Bend down low) Oh yeah! Let me tell you what I know
Bend down low, let me tell you what I know, Oh yeah”

Have a Fabulous Hump Day Wednesday Y'all..:)
While photographing birds, I'm often approached by Park visitors who want to tell me about "the big one" (gator) down the trail. These are well meaning people who assume I want to photograph gators, but couldn't find one and had to settle for a boring bird. I always thank them, and occasionally go check out "the big one", especially when their loud, excited report flushed the bird:) Brazos Bend State Park in SE Texas. 3/2018
FYI this animal has his mouth open to regulate temperature. He is not showing aggression.
I was told I had to get accustomed to this camera, Pinhole Blender mini-35, and I shure need that. No I know a bit more about the camera so thet the next film shall be better.

Brrr... it has been cold during the last few days. Way below -20°C degrees. This is a different winter, one of those good old ones. The sea covered by a layer of thick ice. Definitely, favorable weather to photograph Bearded Reedlings (Panurus biarmicus) I thought ... and as it had been 3 years since I photographed them for the last time, I was eager, motivated, and all dressed for it... well... got lucky. Happy Days!

Seen and photographed millions of times in all seasons and times of day and night, the view of Horseshoe Bend on the Colorado River in Arizona never ceases to amaze.
featured No. 28 in Explore 14 February 2017
I first photographed this bend on 5th Nov 2020 and commented that I hoped it wouldn't drift down the bay too quickly as there was a tree just out of shot which would compromise my options. It is now just clearing the tree so fair game once more - the tree now being just out of shot to the on the other side. It is also a more mature, wider bend.

This is Horseshoe Bend/Canyon in Page Arizona taken during or May vacation. I wanted so bad to do a sunset here but the night before this shot it rained so hard that we ended up going to the movie theater instead. Then on Sunday after they told us that our Antelope Canyon tour was canceled due to flood waters in the canyon we headed to Horseshoe Bend to see if we could at least see this.
We got there and of course it was lightly raining...just enough to irritate you. Well we headed up to Horseshoe Bend along with about 100-200 other tourist hoping to stay dry long enough to get a couple good photos in. Well actually when we were just about to leave the sky opened up for about 10 minutes and the sun shined long enough for me to get a couple sunlit shots.

Horseshoe Bend is a majestic sight to behold. Part of the Glen Canyon National Recreation Area, it is formed by the meandering Colorado River making a 270 degree horseshoe shaped bend in the sandstone rocks.
I spent about two hours around sunset with my tripod, taking 50+ shots, all three exposure brackets. The location was full of people, many getting very dangerously close to the edge of the rocks, which totally would freak me out. Several people were decked out with unique clothing, flowing white robes, clearly for their Instagram shots with their photographers in tow... Just an amazing experience.
This shot was at 5:40 PM, about 25 minutes after the last rays of sunshine over the rocks on the top left. It was almost blue hour but not yet dark enough for a deep blue sky.

I stopped at the scenic Horseshoe Bend at Sunset. There's something mesmerizing about sitting at the edge and looking inside this time capsule. The Colorado river shaping it's way through like it has done for millions of years.

I had a very wet walk in the woods yesterday looking for autumn, well I think I found it. It’s been slow this year, probably down to the return of winter in early spring. I had been waiting to venture out for quite a few days but it’s been far too windy. I don’t mind the rain in the woods, but keep wind is for the coast. So as yesterday forecasted a drop in the wind I took my chance. Photography in the rain is hard work, with all your gear covered makes getting your camera out harder, holding an umbrella over the tripod as you set up, constantly wiping the camera. Then you pack it all away again only to repeat the exercise a few steps further on. Mind that’s a problem of mine, once I’m in a bonny place I try to take it all, rather than being more discerning. My theory is if you give a monkey a gun….

My best image of Horseshoe Bend...(FYI - you really need a wide angle lens to do this shot justice!) This panorama is a composition of 7 different shots. Can you see those tiny boats down there?

After a big snow storm last year I had good timing and caught a train coming round the bend.
