A geranium plant in the window of the ticket house at Christ's Hospital station ... held back by the bars, and with it's view obscured by the frosted glass, it still does it's best to give us a glimpse of life 'inside' ...

Bearing in mind the struggle the Poles had with the Germans during WW2, I thought it appropriate that a view from the outside makes it look like a prison.

Wikipedia says:

"The uprising was timed to coincide with the Soviet Union's Red Army approaching the eastern suburbs of the city and the retreat of German forces. However, the Soviet advance stopped short, enabling the Germans to regroup and demolish the city while defeating the Polish resistance, which fought for 63 days with little outside support. The uprising was the largest single military effort taken by any European resistance movement during WW2"

A series I started to document animals in captivity.

Was dancing to the Jailhouse Rock

:) Looked like this little ceramic cutie was in jail- he was on a shelf in the shop at the Huntsville Botanical Gardens.

Cemeteries provide lots of scope for potential photographic opportunities, I taken this photo at a Cemetery in Warrington.

"Islam, Christianity and Judaism are patriarchal, monotheistic religions and are bound by one thing – their contempt of women! When confronted with the issue of women’s plight in Muslim countries, Muslim apologists insist that their religion has been misunderstood and that Islam actually grants women certain rights. They blame tradition and tribal societies for the low status and oppression of women. Since Islam exerts absolute power over every aspect of Muslim society, from diet to relations between the sexes, why has it failed in fourteen centuries of its existence, to eradicate injustices against half of its adherents? Turkey’s women are the most liberated in the Muslim world. This was achieved not through Islamic reformation but through secularisation established by the founder of the modern Turkish republic Kemal Ataturk. Kemal was the product of secular education and had always admired Western culture. He pursued a program of westernisation that affected all aspects of Turkish life – women were granted the vote and veiling was prohibited. If the Turkish system were to collapse and replaced by an Islamic theocracy we can be certain that women’s progress will be reversed and women will be at the mercy of the mullahs. In countries where there has been a raise in fundamentalism and reversal to strict religious law such as Pakistan, Sudan and Afghanistan women are targeted with vengeance and brutality..."

An image taken to illustrate being ‘behind bars’ while under arrest.

The image was shot in the holding area of one of our custody suites. Contrary to popular belief, UK police cells rarely have bars.

Today I sorted old photo compact disks ... I found these holiday pictures ... 10 years ago we visit San Francisco.

With some music and a coffee I did a little time warp...

Erinnerungen

Heute habe ich alte Foto-Cd`s sortiert und dabei diese Urlaubsbilder gefunden. Vor 10 Jahren waren wir in San Francisco.

I must admit the sight of this magnificent creature chained behind bars in the dark was very sad. And believe me, its eyes spoke. It sucks to be a sacred animal in India!

This vintage VHS release of "Condemned to Hell" (1984) carries the Korean title "City of Women" and promises heavy dollops of B-movie exploitation action of all kinds. Extremely rare tape from the obscure-film-friendly label D&S.
