This area is one of the highest rainfall areas in Japan. Although the soil layer is thin with lava strata, there's a splendid beech forest with the blessing of rain.

Many thanks for all the likes and comments on my two images yesterday. Here's another one from the Beeches on Sunday. I don't normally go for a 2x3 ratio for portraits but it would have been a shame to crop off that branch in the top right.

Thank you to everyone who pauses long enough to look at my photo. Any comments or Faves are very much appreciated.
Small gelatinous Beech Jellydisc fungi (Neobulgaria pura) on a fallen beech tree trunk. There are two forms: Neobulgaria pura: var.pura (a big clamp of fruitbodies on the left) and a wrinkled brain-like form N. pura var. foliacea which, I would like to think is on the right (though cannot be fully sure). It would be interesting to see the two forms growing next to each other. Beechwood, Lansdown, Bath, BANES, England, U.K.
Beeches line the old drove road across the top of the Quantock Hills between the Triscombe Stone and Crowcombe Park Gate.
I see this tree every morning I go to work. It stands out in the middle of a small hilly field with bushes and a lot of the time, sheep for company.
