Swankier in Lightbox

While out to do some street photography, I happened upon this bar. No wait, that doesn't sound right. I passed by this bar on the way to some street photography. um...that sounds no better. The point is, I just happened to find these guys. And the girl with the hoola hoop. Really. I'll save the hoola hoop for later. This is Thee Swank Bastards, a surf-punk band. Very entertaining. I only stayed for 3 or 4 songs...actually, I was outside peering in through a window most of the time because it was fairly crowded inside. And I did eventually make it to the street photography (see yesterday's shot) (on second thought...that might explain the strangeness to that shot) I know there's a knob and the shoulder of a person....but it's as clear a sighline as I could get. Damn knobs!

Stencil Bastards at Starkart Zuerich

Pequeño adelanto del logotipo para The Little Bastards.

i used to busk here to make ends meet, till the assholes called the cops, now my life is fucked and i don't know how i can afford internet anymore or keep my camera

I took an old Sigma lens for the microchip & mount and replaced the elements with a lens from a 1930's(?) Welmy* camera.... Also added a projection lens as a macro. The depth of field is extremely short. Pretty cool as a proof of concept - I have ideas to try ...

This was my nickname for many years. Some people still like to call me that.

Good quality image from an 1890 asbestos publication, showing a form of fibrous asbestos-like mineral specimen. Image is simply captioned: "Picrolite, Bastard Asbestos."

Poor picrolite, an unfortunate and cruel designation for the illegitimate offspring of serpentine; shunned for its apparent hideous, grotesque nature.

Given my ever growing collection of bottle caps it should be of no surprise that one of the first things I picked up to photograph with a macro lens was a cap. Of the ones I had with me I liked the design of this Arrogant Bastard Ale best and chose it.

But what if I decided to photograph every one of my caps at this size, and then wanted a print??

Well, here is where the math gets fun.

All calculations were made while assuming 1600 unique caps in my collection at the moment.

If I were to photograph them as I did this one, I could print each out at 8 x 12 while still remaining above 300+ dpi. When combined together they would cover an area of over 1000 square feet (approximately 100 square meters).

As for the computer file, if each one is 4060 x 2707 pixels, that would give us an image size of a little over 17.5 gigapixels
