One of my favorite shots from this summer, I loved how this puffin had it's tail fanned with a great topside view. The sand eels help too. D500 300 PF f4 + 1.4 TC 1/4000 f/6.3 ISO 2000.

The New River Banking and Trust company is the 2nd bank in Thurmond West Virginia. At one time the coal operations here were huge and by 1931 the town was a shell of its former self.

A shearwater banks inland to return to its nesting burrow after off-shore fishing. The ‘ua'u kani or wedge-tailed shearwater (Ardenna pacifica) nesting population appears to be increasing annually in this sand dune area of west Oahu.
