Isaiah 8:9 “Band together, peoples, and be broken; pay attention, all you distant lands; prepare for war, and be broken; prepare for war, and be broken.”
Llyn Gwynant all calm and moody with bands of mist across the entire scene....also a perfect opportunity to try out my new wellies when wading out to the rocks
One of our most beautiful damselflies I think. I managed to catch this one in a striking pose as he was displaying. There was a number of males around this one and one female. I’m not sure if this behaviour was to appeal to the female or a threat display aimed at the other males.
Perhaps it was both -
He certainly looked impressive anyway.
Thank you for having a look at my photos. Comments or faves are very welcome and much appreciated.
A quick trip to the Western Treatment Plant to get a look at a Tufted Duck today. We saw the Tufted Duck and got some shots from a great distance. I will have to sort through the images when I get time.
I have to say I was pretty excited when we encountered this Four-banded Sandgrouse, and about eight more of its buddies, during our visit to Ethiopia this past August. When we spotted them in the distance it was obvious that they had some crazy markings and would definitely make some interesting photo opportunities. Since we didn’t want to spook them, we approached them very cautiously and to our delight we were able to get nice and close without flushing them. Looking back at it, I think they might have been trying to use those wild markings as camouflage and were just being still to avoid detection. I think that strategy probably works better during the dry season when the grass is all brown. In any case, check out this awesome sandgrouse. We were smiling from ear to ear the whole time we were watching them.

Hunting by perching near the streams, diving into the water for fishes and crustaceans. One of rare kingfisher, found this one perching in front of me is a dream come through.

The band came first in a park near Harlem, then the light festival lanterns. It was bit dark so I hope you get the impression.

This is the lovely Victorian Bandstand at Brighton Sea front which has been restored to its former glory.
Lovely sunshine shame no band.
Perfect adult male warbler which has obviously been netted, banded and released. What a beautiful bird! Chapman Mountain Nature Preserve April 2023.
I like how the red dewlap of this Band-tailed Guan is matched by the colour of the Poinsettia (Euphorbia pulcherrima) growing wild at the El Dorado Lodge in the Sierra Nevada de Santa Marta, northern Colombia, South America. This bird is also displaying a prominent crest.
