Thanks to Carson Hart to give it a different shape, it does look better than the previous version.

TGC3, one of the Transit Authority's two Track Geometry Cars, is seen at 231st St station in the Bronx, returning from a geometry run up to 242nd St. The car is not taking measurements at this point, which is evident by the halogen lamps on the front being off and the red laser scanner under the trailing unit being absent. This is likely due to the time of its run: it came up measuring the middle track during the tail end of morning peak, so it had to run back down quickly to avoid delaying any revenue trains - measurement requires it to run at a slower speed.
One unique feature of the TGCs is their axle count; unlike a typical two-car pair, they have 10 axles. The middle two on the first unit are used for measuring track geometry parameters including loaded gauge and curvature.

CSXT GP38-2 2745 is westbound on the Hanover Sub main in Hanover PA with the D795 local
in tow, August 26, 2019. Normally the job goes from Hanover to Highfield and hands the train off to the
B702 from Hagerstown but on Mondays the D795 stays in Hanover to service local customers.
Thus a four axle locomotive is all that is required on Mondays. The track in the foreground is
the interchange track between Yorkrail and CSX.

Former Santa Fe GP60 4028 leads a GP35 on an eastbound rack train at Chana back in 2005. It was nice to catch the smaller power still earning its keep before the onslaught of Orange GEs.

Early CSX was a fun time to be trackside.
The driving axles are displaced at a funky measurement of 4 1/2 Technic holes, except for the front-most, which is 5 ahead of the second. That is prototypical for the engine I am modeling: an experimental 2-10-4 locomotive trialed by the Canadian Pacific Railway. CPR operated a fleet of 2-10-4s, commonly called the "Texas" type but which the Canadians called "Selkirk". One of them was modified to have three cylinders and was numbered 8000.
LEGO driver diameter = 1 1/8s inch.
CPR "Selkirk" diver diameter = 63 inches.
1.125 inches (model) = 63 inches (prototype).
1 inch (model) = 55 inches (prototype).
scale, as determined by driving wheel diameter = 1:55.
Some urban exploring around the industrial areas and train yards in West Seattle. I'm amazed these train cars can even move with such ridiculous levels of rust. :)
HDR is relatively rare for me these days, but it's usually the only way to compensate for extreme contrast situations like this. This is 3 raw exposures merged and tonemapped with some final post processing to restore lost contrast.

Very glad I was finally able to catch this fantastic livery on my most recent visit to Edinburgh and it did not disappoint.
Fast forward from Saturday evening with Chris until the end of the week. My last night in Winnipeg was Thursday the 29th, so Mark Perry and I decided to hangout as a last hurrah of my time in the prairies. The evening began with a drive by the CP Winnipeg Yard, which yielded some switching action, and nothing more. We heard an eastbound coming into town and made haste to Woodman, where we watched the eastbound roll on by. Almost immediately after, we heard the yardmaster talking to a yard job, which appeared to be somewhere on the St. James Industrial Lead. A short amount of poking around and we happened across the flared GP38-2. Mind you, the crew was awaiting a cab to take them back to the office for lunch, but we still shot what angles we could. It was here that I took a dive as I literally tripped while walking over the tracks at the crossing. Mark missed my epic fail thankfully, but most of all I was thankful for my lens hood which truly saved my 70-200. A bit sore, I dusted myself off and fired this shot of the rear of the unique four axle EMD in some sweet light.

ADDITIONAL NOTES.
As with the last upload of the demountable tanks this 3-axle ex Milk Tanker had seen departmental use as a steam breakdown crane water supply tank as part of the Stewarts Lane Depot BTU (Breakdown Train Unit) support fleet operated by the CM&EE department. Similarly to the previous image this vehicle too had been claimed by the S&TE (Signal & Telegraph Engineers) department after its BTU days had ended and has visited the C&W sidings at Hoo Junction for re-lettering to its new owner with a KDW prefix to the number instead of ADW and "Breakdown Train" painted out on the tank barrel.
The Milk tank fleet was considered passenger rated rolling stock until February 1970 when remaining vehicles were transferred to the freight stock fleet and lost the suffix letter if carried. W 2952 was a Collett designed vehicle built to diagram O51 by the GWR which comprised 3 lots of 6 vehicles each constructed in 1938,42 & 43. I believe they were originally allocated to Unigate Dairies Ltd.

Sometime around 2014, it was renumbered to 178. As of the early 2020s, 178 was assigned to the Newton, KS area.
