Working an X1 to Knaresborough and St James retail park, the bus leaves Harrogate bus station with a good load - mainly due to the Tour de France ending here in the town and lots of people trying to get home.
Oh the irony...!

First Glasgow Wright Axcess Ultralow bodied Scania L113CRL 61565 is seen still with a Wayfarer 3 ticket machine into 2010 as it sits waiting on West Nile Street, Glasgow operating service 45 between Kennishead and Auchanairn Woodhill on Monday 4th January 2010.
First Potteries launched their 'Gold Standard' service on routes 25 and 26/26A in September 2011, the idea of which was to attract more passengers with the promise of regular drivers, buses that are cleaned frequently throughout the day, updated timetable information at all stops on the routes and reduced 'two-trip' tickets for these services. As part of the launch one vehicle for each service was painted in Potteries Motor Traction's (PMT) red and yellow livery, with another for the 26/26A treated in December 2011, to 'give the two services a greater local identity', and they do indeed look very smart (see previous photos in this stream).
If however you do not happen to catch one of these vehicles on the 26/26A you will most likely end up on a corporate liveried 12+ year old Wright bodied Scania which started its life in another part of Firsts empire, as is illustrated by R127GSF (61245) seen here approaching Stoke town centre on a Newcastle bound 26, 09/1/2012.
First Group introduced their national fleet numbering system during 2002. The honour of being the first to be incorporated fell to First PMT, so many of the early numbers were allocated to the Potteries fleet. The series for single deckers began with 60000 which went to PMT's Chester based Leyland Tiger G66RND. In fact 4 Tigers took the first 4 numbers. The earliest "bus" number was 60004 which was given to Adderley Green based Scania/Wright Axcess-ultralow S356MFP. 60004 is still in service with First Potteries, and I photographed it in Newcastle (Staffs) on 10 March 2010. 60004 has another claim to fame, being the very last service bus driven by POPS' "Living Legend" on his final turn on the day of his retirement in 2004 (seems like only yesterday!).

Well the fleet additions keep on coming.................. Harrogate Coach Travel have recently purchased this Wrights Axcesss Ultra bodied Scania N255BKK. She was new to Kentish Bus and aquired from Arriva Southern Counties at Southend On Sea. She is seen here heading for Wetherby from Harrogate today with a friendly driver at the wheel having only just gone into service this week. As can be seen she is in a slightly lighter green that normal does not have a black lower and no fleetnames

Two Code 3 adaptions, with the First Kelvin Dart SLF having had a full rebuild and respray, with only minor cosmetic work on the Wright Scania Axcess. Some of the interior work to the Dart can be seen in the picture, the yellow “handrails” were coloured paperclips, measures to size and snipped before gluing into place. Faux signage was added, and the cash box painted red
350 is part of a batch of Wright Axcess-Ultralows new to First Leicester for the 38 in 1998. However, at the start of 2002, they were replaced by the ALX400s and were dispatched up north.
This one went to the Potteries, and became 60006 under national numbering. It lived all its life there until the end of 2015, after which it was preserved, restored to its former glory and brought back to Leicester. In 2021 it was joined by Eclipse Metro 66320.

According to Firsts website the vehicles used on these services bear 'recognisable local symbols of the area' ............ I don't think the destination display counts does it? ;-)

First Potteries has been the recipient of many cascaded Scanias. The most prolific single deckers in the Potteries fleet are Scanias with Wright Axcess bodywork. Examples have been cascaded mainly from Manchester and Glasgow. 61143 (S361MFP), seen not far from the Deltabus homestead in December 2007, originally came from First Northampton.
