X1 seemed interested in R8 but he just couldn't seem to get in the right position. If all condors have these difficulties, I can see why population recovery efforts are slow. He is perched on her shoulders in the wrong direction.

We enjoyed watching the condors at the Navajo Bridge. They have a wing span of 9 to 10 feet and weight up to 25 pounds. They can live up to 60 years and start reproducing at about age 5 or 6. Their population was down to 22 in 1982. Extensive efforts have been made to recover the bird through captive hatching and release. R8 hatched in 2015. So he is relatively new at this and has lots of time to hone his technique!

Ann awkward, somewhat blurry landing by a squirrel climbing down a chain-link fence. The squirrel seems unfazed.

Rene is like a brother to me. And Oppie is like a little sister, though I'd adopt the shit out of her if she let me.

I've always wanted to do this! Sorry for my awkwardness in the picture and for my discombobulated letters!

I made Jowena get in my shot, against her will. That gate was way too awesome not too! ...but it was seriously dirty... I'm surprized she actually humoured me and did it!

Dolly and Elliot's portfolio shots for Duet. I have to say, Elliot's is my favorite. XD But these both were fun to make. I didn't want to go too crazy on these. I thought making it simple would kinda let them shine a bit more.

Poor Elliot. He'll most likely trip over air and fall backward. For him, anything's possible.

That awkward moment when you just know you're not getting back into Heaven

So this is one of those cliches, but I just couldn't resist! This is somewhere near San Francisco CA....

The bad thing is that it's on kodachrome and it's really hard to scan... at least with the scanner I have available... so anyway there's loss of details in the shadows and some grain and a bit of color awkwardness... the slide looks much better.

my girlfriend was the genius behind this little hanging-mobile layout.

I had to stage a photo for the cover of Red Letter Daze this evening about sexual health. We'd decided that birth control was the way to go, but that led to the awkward announcement in the office "Does anyone have birth control that we can borrow?" (which was later followed by "does anyone have colorful condoms?")

We obviously got some and got the photo we needed. Unfortunately birth control is kind of boring looking, so I had to do a lot of poking around in Photoshop to make it look moderately interesting. I ended up going with a lomo/vintage/old style treatment and from what I saw before I left, the cover looks pretty awesome! We'll see on Friday!

Snowy Plover, Charadrius nivosus

I tried to be as quiet as possible as not to interrupt these lovely newly weds...

I rarely ever see bumble bees mating so this was a fun find. The female remained motionless while the male was very active with quite a bit of flailing of legs. The process took about 30 minutes.
