With the crisis in honeybees these days, it's good to see these pollinators feeding on the flowers of our landscape.
The Sedum 'Autumn Joy' has flowered and it pink and white florets always make for lovely macro shots :)
My sweet Peach-Faced Lovebird, Cutie-Pie, sits on my Burning Bush, bringing in the first day of Autumn! Sure miss my gorgeous model! Some of you may remember him =)
Blooming in at the end of summer and into fall, our plants of Sedum 'Autumn Joy' are not only beautiful, but they give the insect world one last feeding frenzy before the cold winter arrives.
I spent an hour or two on my stomach, back, and knees the other day revelling in this micro environment, enjoying the colors, critters, and the cool air! Hope you're enjoying it with me through Flickr :)

For Smile on Saturday
Theme: Autumn Joy
The common name for this Sedum is "Autumn Joy" and this was the first plant I bought in a garden centre when we moved to Wexford 4 years ago. This one plant has spread & I've taken cuttings. Butterflies love it especially Small Tortoiseshells, I counted 24 at one time this year but for this photo one will have to suffice.
I wanted to take a better photo with my camera but never got around to it & seeing as the theme for Smile on Saturday group today is "Autumn Joy" I couldn't resist sharing this quick iPhone shot HSoS everyone!
Photo 53/100 for the 100 Flowers 2020 group.
“Flowers… are a proud assertion that a ray of beauty out values all the utilities in the world.” – Ralph Waldo Emerson
The Dragon Fruit Flower blooms only one or two days each year. In Florida it blooms in Autunm (September). Seeing this beautiful tropical flower bloom is a great joy of Autunm.
The 'Autumn joy' sedum draws lots of butterflies when their blossoms open. This Checkered white butterfly (Pontia protodice) was kind enough to let me get a closeup. Most of the butterflies are so skittish that approaching is quite difficult. I suppose those defensive mechanisms need to be strong to survive.
The House finches just love the tasty leaves of the Autumn joy stonecrop sedum. I caught this male with the evidence in its beak. This variety of sedum was one of the first additions to the garden and they are in multiple locations and the House finches show their appreciation each summer.
Throw kindness around like leaves.
