Oh, man. This is a fine signature. This is Andy Van Slyke, who signed this for me at a game in 2007 that I attended with my cousin (see one of the other photos for the story). I've met Van Slyke twice, and he's as great of a guy as he is funny. Even though he was an all-star and won multiple gold gloves in his career, it wasn't until he became the 1st base and outfield coach for the Tigers that I really came to appreciate him.

This cannon is the only thing on the ship to come from the original Hermione. I was told "we knew where it sank, why not go check out what we can salvage". You can identify it from the others because it is more pitted at the end. The replica cannons all around the rest of the ship were cast in the same foundry as the originals with historically accurate molds and materials.
