Getting ready to launch

University of Tampa

Tampa, Florida

The church used to stand at Dvergasteinn farm and in 1882 it was moved to Vestdalseyri. At first the church stood on a hill overlooking Vestdalseyri but in 1894 it was blown over and damaged by a huge storm. The church was rebuilt, this time down on the peninsula and stood there until 1920 when the decision was made to move to its present location in the heart of Seyðisfjörður. In 1989 the Blue Church was damaged by fire when renovation work was being carried out on the building and a pipe organ that was installed in 1987 was ruined by the flames. Today the Blue Church has a pipe organ of the same type as the one that was lost to the fire.

The Valley Show & Shine 2019

One of the things I like most about Sarasota is their public spaces. This is a good example of that, an oasis in plain sight.

I took this in the middle of summer when we get amazing clouds. I don’t normally take pictures of city parks but this one is situated right on the inter-coastal waterway so I couldn’t resist.

Every time I drive by this park seems empty. I’m not sure if people just aren’t aware of it or what, but it’s the perfect spot. Just stop the car, walk over to the water and sit on a bench. As far as parks go this is one of the prettiest in the area.

This is an HDR image; I took three photos with different exposures and combined them in AuroraHDR. It makes it possible the show the whole range of light when there are extreme ranges like this. It’s hard to take an image like this any other way.

On the day I drove up to Tibidabo, it was raining and foggy and cloudy and, generally, a great day for photography. Even though I had a GPS, I passed it several times; the fog was so thick you couldn't see more than a hundred feet.

Anyway, when I got here, I walked around, literally in the clouds. Tibidabo is a popular attraction on top of a mountain, but there were only a handful of people here; I think there were more employees than visitors.

I could see some of the attractions but not altogether. It was hard to get s sense of the place, I had to piece it together in my mind. I would walk up upon each attraction and have more of the puzzle. As I walked around, I felt like a ghost.

It made for a fun excursion, but it mirrored the oddity of the park itself. It felt like being in some strange dreamlike universe where things were not as they are in the waking world.

If the weather isn't right, it usually means there could be some interesting photos, and that's why I went. I'm glad I did; had I gone when it was sunny, it would have been a lot of people, and I think it would have been a much more mundane experience.

The tavern was cleaning up from closing a few hours earlier and the early birds were already sitting at the coffee shop. Life in a small tourist town. Read more on the blog at goo.gl/nypc6d

I never get tired of taking pictures of people fishing. I’m not sure why that is other than it’s a common pastime where I live. Maybe if I lived in a landlocked region it would be farmers. Read more goo.gl/jcqPsS

I liked the cloud colour and in the background you can see the original Canary Wharf Tower (the building with the pyramid top)
