Military Prison
---------------------
The prison was built about 1842 for soldiers from the castle garrison and extended in the 1880s.Last used in 1923,when the garrison moved to Redford Barracks in the Edinburgh suburbs. This little military prison was a miniature version of the great civilian prisons of the day, such as Perth, with an open hall giving access to two floors of cells.
Hay's Galleria was originally a collection of warehouses and wharves. In the 19th century, the wharf was one of the chief delivery points for ships bringing tea to the Pool of London and 80% of the dry produce imported to London passed through the wharf, gaining the nickname of the Larder of London.
It now houses shops, restaurants, bars, a pub and offices.
