Meet Associate Warden Victor Locklear who has been employed with the Division of Prisons for 25 years. Locklear is a valued PERT member, serving as the Assistant Company Commander for Eastern Region. As a Lumbee descendant himself, he shares his knowledge of the customs and teachings of his tribe with his children. Locklear seeks to build unity among Native Americans through different social gatherings.

In accordance with the Engineering Evaluation/Cost Analysis that was finalized in February 2010, the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Baltimore District mobilized a Controlled Detonation Chamber known as the T-30 to the Spring Valley federal property to destroy the conventional munitions that were recovered during recent investigations at Spring Valley. These munitions contain small amounts of explosives. The CDC is a proven technology that has been used for more than two decades in more than 1 million successful detonations. A similar destruction operation occurred at Spring Valley in May 2003. Public affairs supported three separate tours on the federal property on Jan. 6, 2011.

At this community conversation, U.S. Supreme Court Associate Justice Sonia Sotomayor discussed her autobiography "My Beloved World."

 

U.S. Supreme Court Associate Justice Sotomayor and engage in a conversation facilitated by José Massó. A respected leader in many fields, Massó’s career has included prominent and groundbreaking positions in education, communications, media, politics, government, entertainment, sports, and philanthropy.

 

A reception with U.S. Supreme Court Associate Justice Sotomayor followed at the Wheelock College Earl Center for Learning and Innovation. Attendees had the opportunity to purchase a signed copy of My Beloved World.

Abstract of his presentation:

Latin American multilateral institutions increasingly exclude the United States. I examine whether the proliferation of these new institutions actually reduces the U.S.’s role in regional governance and examine how the U.S. can respond to these new challenges.
