Frank Schubert, the last civilian lighthouse keeper in the United States, passes the time with his wood working hobby called marquetry in the dining room of his house on the grounds of the U.S. Coast Guard facility in Brooklyn, NY, Wednesday May 3, 1995. Schubert, 79, who has been the keeper of the facility for 35 years, maintains the lighthouse at the entrance to New York harbor.

He is also affiliated with the Department of Communication and the African Studies Program on the Seattle campus of the University of Washington, and is the Project Director of “My World Cup,” a transnational community media project aimed at producing and disseminating short media pieces made by South African youth during the hosting of the 2010 FIFA World Cup. He is the author of Starring Mandela and Cosby: Media and the End(s) of Apartheid (2010) and is the recipient of the 2006 Distinguished Teaching Award.

Lonia, It isn't as bad as it seems. Its only eight hours out of your day and Its just part of your job. If you want to work at Walments or a big box store, I'm sure the standards are more relaxed.
