A delegation from Guadeloupe which comprised Mrs Thérèse Marianne-Pepin, Président of the Commission on Cooperation, Mr Olivier SORET, Director General, Europe and Cooperation, and Mr Lionel SAROTTE, Cooperation Officer, visited the Caribbean Community (CARICOM) Secretariat on Wednesday 11 February, 2015 for discussions with CARICOM Secretary-General, Ambassador Irwin LaRocque on Associate Membership of the Community.
Lina Rifai, associate professor of vertebrate biology, leads a KEY immersive experience near the Kelley House.
The goal of the event is to catch birds on campus and band them for tracking purposes, to monitor the health of the bird population.
A highlight of the day was banding and releasing the first documented hummingbird on campus.

Jacarandas in bloom have become closely associated with Brisbane and South East Queensland. The Brisbane City Council have used jacarandas to line avenues, and commercial developments in some areas, particularly along the Brisbane River have incorporated jacarandas into their landscape design. The trees are common in parks throughout the city, most notably in a long curved avenue in New Farm Park, in Goodna, and in private gardens. Brisbane's hilly geography allows views of the city and suburbs in which the brightly coloured flowers can be easily seen for miles. The jacaranda has become so much a part of the city's identity that contemporary art, particularly of streetscapes, often incorporates the flowering jacaranda, despite the fact that it only flowers for approximately six weeks from September through October.
Associate Degree Nursing students and LPN to RN Articulation students participated in the ADN Pinning Ceremony on Friday, May 19, at Bethel Baptist Church in Galesburg. The annual event for recent graduates is a celebration of the culmination of their efforts from their time in the program and includes the opportunity for family members and loved ones to participate in the ceremony.

A brief history of the banner: after the unfurling ceremony the banner disappeared around 12 years later, and was lost until in 1950. It was discovered at the King’s Head Hotel, Grangetown; furled and lying in its dust covered box, in a sad state of decay. Sent to the Middlesbrough office and then to Union H.Q. in London in 1971. Proving too large for the union museum it returned to its box.
The Banner consists of a sheet of silk on both sides of which are painted various scenes in oils Over the years the panels cracked and the oils attacked the silk. The decision was made to send it to the Textile Conservation Centre at Hampton Court Palace where it was restored over a seven month period in 1989.
John Thomas has advised: “The Cleveland District of the Associated Iron and Steel Workers Banner, the gentleman seated at the rear with a beard was my Great Great Grandfather Edward Thomas (a member of the Northern Conciliation Board). He was born in Holywell Wales and is buried in Eston Cemetery, the grave stone was erected by his fellow workmen in recognition of his valuable services rendered as a representative.”

I pencilled on the back "Seen on back of lorry on the A45 on 24/3/76".
This would have been the old A45 trunk road between Cambridge and Quy Church, before the Cambridge by-pass (now A14) was built, so maybe heading for Ipswich?
