Assignment #2 is all about contrast and complementary colors. The point of this painting is to pull the negative space into the painting. I painted the background blue, then just painted on top of it. It was hard making myself leave enough of the blue background showing to make an impact, but I think I succeeded. I really enjoyed painting this one. The repetition was really soothing. I plan to play around with this style a lot more.
This shows the before and after together. I originally took this only to get my settings for the "real" shots I was going to take of my daughter for the "b&w assignment". I applied "gritty" then "b&w" (no filters), cropped it and sharpened it.
The Calvert Photography Club photo assignment for 03/16/2019 was "Light". We could only submit two pictures for judging. These were my attempts from which two were submitted. The subject matter consisted of a strong LED light array source, a very small glass cube(frosted on two faces), a plastic diffraction grating sheet, sometimes a plastic fresnel lens sheet, and on the bottom a sheet of very white high gloss ink jet printing paper.
