There is a printed circuit board (PCB) inside every single electronic gadget used today that allows it to function. Whether we're talking about digital speedometers in cars, smart speakers for the house, or your new smart thermostat, the PCB is the brain of all electronic gadgets. Of course, assembling a collection of components and resistors does not suffice to produce a working electrical gadget.

The Batch#6 Makerbot kits are very cleanly designed; everything slots
together nicely, and is bolted in place with a captive-bolt system that's
fun to assemble. The threaded rods are the only part requiring much thought,
and we didn't have the 13mm wrenches we needed to tighten them!
I cleaned to rods in hot water with lots of detergent and a stiff-bristled
brush. Not only did this clean out most of the gunk, it also meant the metal
is more "sticky" to the nuts, which is handy when you're trying to place
some where they're intended to stay for a long time. Later, I'll lubricate
the area of the rod where the Z-stage travels.
