I don't know if Assassin bugs are this energetic in other parts of the world, but in my yard, they never stop moving (running in the opposite direction, actually) for one second while I try to take photos of them. I have the lowest keeper rate with these compared to pretty much anything else. It's too bad, because they look really cool.

Assassin bug on a frond of crabgrass. I saw this lump on the crabgrass and when I looked closely it turned out to be this elaborately shaped critter -- and got this beautiful shot of it in the fading sunlight. Richmond, VA.

This African White Spot or Spotted Assassin Bug is drinking water from the lip of its dish. That beak-like thing it has is called a 'rostrum'. They can deliver a bee-sting like bite, but usually won't unless directly threatened.

Found this and all the other bugs on the Fern Bush. It's in bloom and the fragrance is so strong it attracts all sorts of bugs.
