Someone asked me why these geese and ducks would lay their eggs along the shoreline. I really don't know but my response was, "A Gift?"
While fishing here I'd seen two ducks swim up to the shoreline - one laid an egg right in the water and the other walked up a few feet and laid the egg on the shoreline directly in front of me. It was tempting not to cook them for breakfast. I did take two duck eggs home with me to decorate at some juncture.
The guy at the Sunrise Asian Market is selling duck eggs for .50 cents. He said they're fresh from China. I told him I can get fresher here and they're "cage free".

I promise you won't read about another girl with low self-esteem or having a complex about her appearance. My story is a little different.

Kapadokya, Orta Anadolu ve Doğu Anadolu'nun Türk bölgelerinde bozkırın güneyinde bir bölgedir. Bölge UNESCO Dünya Mirası Listesi'nde yer almakta olup Göreme Milli Parkı'nın bir kısmı koruma altındadır.
Bölge 2000 km² alana sahip olup Fırat ve Halys (Kızılırmak) nehirleri arasında yer almaktadır. Bölgenin en yüksek zirvesi Erciyes Dağı yanardağıdır (3917 metre). Ayrıca bölgede iki yanardağ daha var: Hasan Dağı ve Melendiz Dağı.
Kapadokya, Roma İmparatorluğu zamanında doğuda Ermenistan sınırında bulunan ve bir dönem Ermenistan'ın parçası olan bir Roma vilayetiydi. Güneyde Mezopotamya, Suriye ve Kilikya, batıda Galatya ve kuzeyde Pontus ile komşudur. Doğusu dağlık ve volkanik, batısı ise düz ve çoğunlukla platolardan oluşan Kapadokya'dır.
Kapadokya, bir yanda yanardağ patlamalarının oluşturduğu tüf manzarası, diğer yanda karstik olayların görülebildiği kireçtaşından oluşuyor. Yavaş hava koşulları ve her biri farklı şekilde ve farklı hızda aşındırılan farklı kaya türleri, özellikle tuhaf ve değişken bir manzara yaratmıştır. Zamanla karst mağaralarına kiliseler inşa edildi.
Yaklaşık 60 milyon yıl önce Avrupa ile Asya'nın çarpışması, Alp orojenezinin başlangıç sinyaliydi. Bu, büyük patlamayı takip eden çok sayıda patlamaya ve volkanik yağışa neden oldu. Bütün bunlar binlerce yıl boyunca devam etti. Stratovolkan Hasan Dağı'ndan gelen volkanik yağışlar alçaldı ve birleşerek tüf oluşturdu. Bazı patlamalar yanardağdan akan lavları içeriyordu. Bu lav katılaşarak daha sert pomza taşına dönüştü.
Bunu takip eden milyonlarca yıl boyunca karasal iklimin aşırılıkları ve Halys (Kızılırmak) Nehri platoyu aşındırdı. Tipik tüf konilerinin oluşumu büyük ölçüde, başlangıçta devasa 'tüf keki'nin içinde yer alan sert lav parçalarından kaynaklanıyordu. Erozyon nedeniyle açığa çıktılar, ardından rüzgar ve suyun alttaki tüf üzerindeki etkisi azaldı. Tüf kekinde bu sert taşların eksik olduğu yerlerde akarsuların derin vadiler açtığı masa oluşumları oluştu. Bu katılaşmış lav, tarih öncesi çağlarda zaten çıkarılmış ve çarpıcı tüf konileri evlere oyulmuştu. Bu dönemden, bu mağara evlerin hükümet emriyle terk edildiği 1950'li yıllara kadar burada insanlar yaşadı. Günümüzde bazı kaya duvarları ve koniler, içinde delik bulunan peynire benzemektedir.
Cappadocia is a region south of the steppe in the Turkish regions of Central Anatolia and Eastern Anatolia. The area is on the UNESCO World Heritage List and is partly protected by the Göreme National Park.
The area has an area of 2000 km² and lies between the Euphrates and Halys (Kızılırmak) rivers. The highest peak in the area is the volcano Erciyes Dağı (3917 meters). In addition, there are two other volcanoes in the area: the Hasan Dağı and the Melendiz Dağı
During the Roman Empire, Cappadocia was a Roman province that bordered Armenia to the east and was also part of it for a time. To the south it bordered Mesopotamia, Syria and Cilicia, to the west Galatia and to the north Pontus. The east is mountainous and volcanic, in the west Cappadocia is flat with mostly plateaus.
Cappadocia consists of a tuff landscape on the one hand, created by volcanic eruptions, and on the other hand limestone in which karst phenomena can be seen. Due to slow weathering and the different types of rock that each erode differently and at a different speed, a very peculiar and irregular landscape has been created. Churches have been built in the karst caves over time.
The actual collision of Europe and Asia, about 60 million years ago, was the starting signal for the Alpine orogeny. This caused numerous eruptions and volcanic precipitation, which followed the major eruption. All this continued for many thousands of years. The volcanic precipitation from, among others, the stratovolcano Hasan Dağı fell down and clumped together into tuff. During some eruptions, lava flowed from the volcano. This lava solidified into harder pumice. In the millions of years that followed, the extremes of the continental climate and the river Halys (Kızılırmak) eroded the plateau. The formation of the typical tuff cones was largely due to hard pieces of lava that were originally in the enormous 'tuff cake'. They were exposed by erosion, after which wind and water had less influence on the underlying tuff. In places where these hard stones were missing from the tuff cake, table formations were formed, in which rivers eroded deep ravines. This solidified lava was already mined in prehistoric times and the striking tuff cones were hewn out into dwellings. From this time until the 1950s, when these cave dwellings were abandoned by order of the government, people lived here. Today, some of the rock faces and cones look like Swiss cheese.

Door langzame verwering en de verschillende gesteentetypen die elk anders en met een andere snelheid eroderen, is een bijzonder eigenaardig en grillig landschap ontstaan. In de karstgrotten zijn in de loop der tijd kerken gebouwd.
De daadwerkelijke botsing van Europa en Azië, zo'n 60 miljoen jaar geleden, was het startsein voor de Alpiene orogenese. Deze zorgde voor tal van erupties en vulkanische neerslag, die op de grote uitbarsting volgden. Dit alles hield vele duizenden jaren aan. De vulkanische neerslag van onder andere de stratovulkaan Hasan Dağı daalde neer en klitte samen tot tufsteen. Bij sommige uitbarstingen was er sprake van lava die uit de vulkaan vloeide. Deze lava stolde tot hardere puimsteen.
In de miljoenen jaren daarna sleten de extremen van het landklimaat en de rivier de Halys (Kızılırmak) het plateau uit. De vorming van de typische tufsteenkegels kwam grotendeels door harde stukken lava die oorspronkelijk in de enorme `tufsteenkoek' lagen. Door erosie kwamen ze bloot te liggen, waarna wind en water minder invloed hadden op het onderliggende tufsteen. Op plaatsen waar deze harde stenen in de tufsteenkoek ontbraken, vormden zich tafelformaties, waarin rivieren diepe ravijnen uitsleten. Al in de prehistorie werd dit gestolde lava gewonnen en werden de markante tufsteenkegels uitgehakt tot woningen. Vanaf deze tijd tot de jaren 1950, toen op last van de regering deze holwoningen verlaten werden, woonden hier mensen. Vandaag de dag zien sommige rotswanden en kegels er dan ook uit als gatenkaas.

As someone who lost his mother and brother to diseases caused by smoking, I urge you to ask your representatives in Congress why the US doesn't require tobacco companies to tell the truth about smoking the way some European countries do.
Ha ha!
As if your representative in Congress gives a damn what you think unless you've contributed at least six figures to his or her campaign.
The point is that traveling does broaden the mind. This is what cartons of PARLIAMENT look like at the duty-free shop at the airport in Vilnius, Lithuania.
The real question you should be asking is why the U.S. is run by and for corporate interests who have been working tirelessly since at least the Reagan administration to undo what sociologists refer to as the regulatory state in favor of a society where corporations spend gazillions of dollars to make sure the public has to bear the burden of their externalities (another highfalutin' term) so that they can maximize their profits.
What's an externality? A classic example is discharging pollutants into the river for free where they poison plants, animals and people instead of paying for pollution-control technology that might reduce profits but would avoid harming plants, animals and people. I would argue that the heart attacks that killed my brother and mother, both heavy smokers, are also externalities of an industry whose aim it is to sell tobacco, though tobacco-industry lobbyists and lawyers might disagree.
I can think of two legislators who might know what you're talking about, those being Bernie Sanders and Elizabeth Warren.
In a just world, almost a year from the catastrophe of Tuesday, November 8, 2016, they'd be leading a massive nationwide protest and uniting the victims of corporate greed from the right and the left in a movement that would bring about a sea change in American political life on the order of FDR's accomplishments during the last great existential threats to the nation, the Great Depression and World War II.
So, look out the window and tell me whether you see the protest marches or the political slogans sprayed on the walls.
No? Then figure out a way to move to the Eurozone, because the American century is dead and buried.

One evening getting extremely bored I asked my husband to take me to Clifton, a beach by the Arabian Sea. We hadn't been to the beach for quite sometime so it was a pleasant retreat from the monotonous lifestyle of those days.
The beach was rather crowded with many people, mostly children, couples and families strolling up and down the beach and enjoying themselves.
I was pleasantly surprised and thought to myself…These people have found time to come out of their houses for a stroll on the beach from faraway places, why am I not availing this activity myself any longer?
The beach is there for everyone, young and old, rich or poor…lets hope it stays this way and is not consumed by the greedy real-estate barons who are bent upon devouring every bit of Karachi's coastline for their commercial (mis-ad)ventures.

Last night we went for a drive after the rain storm had stopped. the view of a farmer's field was astounding but my eye kept seeing the sun flare in the bottom of a barb BUT I couldn't seem to get it to show up in the camera. I took probably about 20 shots, squatting in ackward positions, making strange faces but no I couldn't get the right angle. My sister asked what I was trying to do. I tell her and in minutes (I kid you not) she takes the picture that I was painfully trying to capture.
Finally I breathe a simple prayer.
Lord please help me. I just want to have the beauty of the sun in the barb.
Voila there is was!! I laughed out loud!!
Wish I'd prayed earlier. It's always that way. Always.
