Female Allen's I think. Good to see her in one of these succulent blooms. They're really sucking me dry mostly. Aside from chasing each other, my hummers are actually sharing the feeders on occasion.

The Boat That Drifted Aside

A winter morning on the Korana River, at Foginovo bathing area.

The sun finally managed to break through the fog and gently touch the water — a quiet reward for patience. Trees are still holding onto their last leaves, as if not yet ready to surrender to the cold.

The river is calm, blue and clear, reflecting the sky and the riverbank, while a small boat — seemingly drifted aside — rests peacefully, tied to this shore.

In this silence, everything feels exactly where it belongs. And nothing is in a hurry.

I ništa ne žuri.

Aside from the general bumbling stupidity, I think Michael and I would make good secret agents. We're good at finding ways in to places where we shouldn't be and can get some good viewpoints.

Then again, I've got bad anxiety and a bad shoulder and Michael's got a bad knee. Maybe not MI5 material.

This was the view that residents of these flats would have looked out on, had the building ever been finished.

Aside from a very minor adjustment to increase exposure a little (I purposefully underexpose just slightly when I shoot) this photo is otherwise straight out of camera (SOOC), the light really was that lovely. I took this shortly after we arrived when we wandered out for a walk after the long flight to stretch our legs, check out the neighbourhood and Sacre Coeur (on this same hill) especially since the light was so lovely. :-) Happy Window Wednesday.

Joking aside - Not just any old tree though - this is THE Lone Cypress & has my total respect!

Another Sunset that wasn't - something I'm very used to! - still a bit of colour in the foggy clouds however.

Looking towards Point Lobos State Nature Reserve

Don't know why I bother mentioning it because everyone takes the same shot!

I was surprised to discover that this is the most photographed tree in the whole wide world - just google most photographed tree in the world & you'll see it.

Only discovered this from the Pebble Beach programme you're given when you pay to enter the park (guess someone has to pay for Clint Eastwood's golf club maintenance costs) :)

Ashamed to say this tree wasn't even on my radar until this Summer when I did what is now the customary bit of research just before we flew out.

► █░▓ Liturgy of the Faithful is the second major part of the Divine Liturgy. In the past, the not baptised were not allowed to attend this part; but this rule has long since been abolished.

This prayer happens at the start of the second half: the assembly begins chanting the Cherubic Hymn. The priest whispers a silent prayer during the Cherubimic chant. When he completes it, he says the Cherubimic hymn himself, thrice, with his hands raised up: Let us, who mystically represent the Cherubim and who sing the thrice-holy hymn to the life-creating Trinity, now lay aside every worldly care. (Every single time I hear it, I'm struck by as how difficult it is to lay aside every worldly care. Even for a few seconds.)

Each time, at the conclusion of this sentence, the priest bows once. The absence of the icon screen (iconostasis) has made following all that takes place in altar totally accessible, but of course out of respect I took care that the most holy moments during the Eucharist i.e. consecration of the gifts were not photographed.

Aside from the usual plethora of CSX power, CN power frequents the Old Main Line about once a week on K676. It is the only foreign power to routinely visit the Baltimore area in recent years.

She is making bread, but what is this woman thinking about? Her husband? What she was reading by the fire last night? When I ask that question, I think of Spinoza, the 17th century European freethinker. Let's toss our assumptions about her aside. So I asked NotebookLM to do a podcast about how new ideas in the 17th century found their way to the middling sort in England.

Aside from one digital train for DA4, I think this is the first train I've ever built. Way more fun than I had expected, but also super challenging--there is so much going on on the engine especially!

Built this for the LEGO House contest over on Ideas. (Finalist)

(Cut to Trailer Trails RV Campground, another business day. The campground is filled with happy campers, and uniformed assistants roam among them. Caly passes Dyanna, overhearing her talking to another assistant.)

Dyanna: And I can't even tell anyone I was there!

Assistant1: Why not?

Dyanna: Think about it; a civilian is the only survivor of an assassination and mass murder of local elites? I'd be witness-for-the-gas-chamber.

A1: But you didn't have anything to do with it!

Dyanna: People like that, in situations like that, always need a scapegoat. And don't tell anyone, because now that I've told you, people will assume there's a conspiracy. Politicians have got to have their conspiracies.

(A1 looks mortified and glances around while Dyanna takes an unconcerned sip from her sports bottle.)

(Cut to Caly entering Ronan's office where Sienna and Mateo sit at the chairs facing Ronan's desk, each of them have drinks on coasters, and Ronan is cooing over a tiny terrier.)

Caly: What is that?

Ronan: It's called a "dog." (to dog) Yes, you are!

Caly: I know what it's called. Why do YOU have one?

Ronan: When Levi was cleaning up, he found the poor thing hiding in Lilitus' suite. I'm calling him, Scruffles. (smooches the happy little dog, and Caly notices the dog is wearing the Tinktink collar.) Grab a drink. (Caly moves toward the bar.) A soda, from the refrigerator.

(Caly frowns at him, but goes to the refrigerator.)

Sienna: I can't believe any of it happened. I mean...everything is moving on like normal.

Mateo: At least Lucas isn't being blamed for it or anything. (looks at Caly) It was nice of your friend to dress him in a valet uniform. People think he was moonlighting under the table, and just got caught up in it all.

Caly: I'm sorry about your friend, but maybe he was a hero.

Sienna: Because he was killed by a razer?

Ronan: I'm not a razer!

Sienna: Not you, I mean whoever took over his body.

Ronan: (fans himself) Thank goodness.

Caly: I mean, perhaps he was the one who eliminated Lilitus. I've tried to make sense of it, the way he protected Dyanna, and then when he destroyed Lilitus -- it doesn't make sense for a razer to do any of that.

Ronan: Why would a razer allow a human's mind to remain intact?

Mateo: (smiles ruefully) Lucas' mind worked in mysterious ways. (he glances at Sienna and they both quietly chuckle)

Caly: I am willing to concede that Lucas is a hero.

Ronan: (raising his glass with his free hand) To Lucas!

(The others join him in the toast. They set aside their drinks, Ronan scooping the dog under his right arm and walking around the desk to join the group.)

Caly: The two of you also did well. (to Sienna and Mateo) I've decided to train you to be better prepared to fight my kind.

Mateo: But ... we won.

Sienna: The bad guys are evaporated, all goldy-steamy like.

Caly: We stopped the Assembly, and Lilitus, but she was hardly the only razer in the world with delusions of grandeur.

Sienna: More politicians?

Caly: Perhaps, but I have discovered razers in many places. I'm sure there are many more, even in this general area.

Mateo: How cheering. I'm so happy that our near death battle has led to -- more battle?

Ronan: (to Mateo) Now you see why I don't socialize with tenets. (to the dog) They're so depressing. All work and no play.

Sienna: This has got to be the weirdest anti-alien invasion group ever.

Caly: As a matter-of-fact, I was once part of a defense force comprised entirely of sentient flowers that wrapped themselves in my hair.

Sienna: Pretty!

Ronan: (uncertain) Pretty weird.

Mateo: I like the sound of that; Defense Force. Should we get uniforms?

Sienna: Oo! And code names!

Ronan: (smooches Scruffles on the head) Place your bet, Scruffikins! Alien invaders versus happy campers!

(Cut to Levi in a dark room lit by candles. He briefly studies the transformation ring Lilitus used to change Trajan, then puts the ring in a wall safe closing it, and covering the safe with a painting depicting a man and woman standing together, in ancient clothing, gazing across the ocean. He smiles at the painting, turning away.)

Razer's theme plays.

Aside from the beautiful scenery, and nicely painted locomotives, THIS is what the Santa train is really all about. At the gift stop in Saint Paul, a sea of people have descended on the train to see Santa, and share some holiday cheer. Behind me, Santa's elves have setup a truck to ensure that everyone has a chance to receive a present, even when Santa has to roll down the line to the next gift stop. You could really see and feel the power of this tradition at the stops, as adults and children paused to welcome the train to their community.

Putting aside the current apparent feelings between Russia and Georgia this peace monument between the two neighbouring countries is an attractive feature. The monument is perched on a cliff above huge gorge and remotely located just 20 miles from the border between the two countries. Its colourful tiled depictions primarily commemorate the 200th anniversary of the 1783 Treaty of Georgievsk whereby Russia guaranteed Georgia's territorial integrity.

Aside from Wild Dogs, the one species I was most hoping to see was the Leopard. In the end, we actually saw seven different animals - I would have been over the moon with just one!

Here's a couple of images from two individuals, taken in Erindi and Okonjima game reserves...

Bird food is mostly always plentiful in my yard, but during this storm I saw very few of the usual skirmishes among the birds. I wonder if they were just more focussed on eating as much as they could?

House Finch and American Goldfinch

Housebound for the weekend of April 14 and 15 due to a severe wintery (!) spring storm, I decided to photograph my backyard friends dealing with the ice pellets, snow, freezing rain, sleet, and wind. This is one in a series of those images.

I went to Rotterdam to do the skill test for my SA226-227 type rating, but because of the weather first, and then because of technical problems, I couldn't do it. So I got stuck there for two days. I decided to rent a car and go urbexing to Belgium. I had no tripod, and no urbex clothing, but I went anyway.

I tried 8 locations, and unfortunately for me, 6 of them were already dead or rebuilt. At least I had the chance to visit this gorgeous train. Old classics never let you down!!

Aside from the main Anglican Cathedral in Liverpool can be found this exquisite separate Chapel.

Aside from cropping, this photo has not been processed. SOOC I just want to give you the pure natural beauty. I hope you enjoy them. Thank You for viewing my photos with a fave or comment. I appreciate You! A big thanks to everyone because, I never thought anyone would be interested in looking at my pictures.

They're all ears... except for the poor doe in the front row who has lost most of hers. Ouch! How did that happen? I've never seen anything like it. Must have been a freak accident or very close call with predators, but honestly I can't imagine the circumstances.

Aside from this disturbing sight, it was a typical scene on the slopes of a coulee during late stages of the annual rut - a dominant Mule Deer buck with his harem of does. They were all willing to follow him; a moment later he led them up the slope and away from the scary photographer. Better safe than sorry. Ask the earless doe.

Aside from the ship coincidentally position center-frame, there is little that would make this a great picture. The image was captured midday. The sky is very unremarkable. Yet still, I enjoy this image.

It is one of those instances when then camera affords you an opportunity to see things that your eyes never could. Like macrophotgraphy, I can zoom into this 8-image pano (NOT ON A MOBILE DEVICE) and it reveals details that would have required binoculars when I was standing there. I'll remember how the 45+ mph wind gusts were jostling me so much that I'd never had steady hands with binoculars anyways.

Aside from the half-inch flowers spread along a seven foot stalk that grew over a path, what really intrigued me about this flower was that it was nocturnal. Well, it was supposed to be a night-bloomer because it is normally pollinated by moths. After watching this for five weeks, it must attract something in the day time because a third of the flowers were open every morning that I passed it.

The flowers are waxy, without much definition, yet still beautiful. The pod from which it springs is purplish, and it opens in less than 24 hours. I don't know why I took it upon myself, but every time a visitor would just pass it by, I thought I should educate him/her/them. One said to me, "But it's so small!" and I didn't know how to respond other than point out that many orchids are smaller. Then one asked where the orchids were, and I had to tell them that they don't bloom "here." The definition of "here" was up to them.

Hesperaloe (false yucca) is a genus of flowering plants in the family Asparagaceae, subfamily Agavoideae. "Aloe" does not refer to it being an aloe, and several professionals are still trying to get over the fact that now it's DNA says it's an asparagus (relative).

Aside from weddings, babyshowers have to be one of the most enjoyable events I am blessed to put together. Thank you to my boo Melodee Escardar for allowing me the honor in doing Tokez Escardar's babyshower. May the little one feel all the love and adoration entering into this world. It's been a pleasure! Til next time...Muah! ❤💋

Details and more details. Notice the light layer of grease and how it has been steadily pushed aside.

Female Long Tailed Duck fighting a strong current... When I used to hunt many years ago, these were known as "Old Squaw" ducks. In the interest of PC, that name has been pushed aside in favor of the name "Long Tailed Duck". These ducks are among the most adept of the diving ducks, being able to dive to depths of 200 feet and thus being powerful swimmers. They need to be to live and feed in the Indian River Inlet where the currents are swift and the depths reach 100 feet in places.

Aside from basic exposure and colour correction, everything in this image was captured in-camera. No photoshopping or using AI.

Liverpool

Coburg Dock on the River Mersey, is part of the Port of Liverpool, being part of the southern dock system, with Queens Dock to the north and Brunswick Dock to the south.

The dock was named in 1840, in honour of Prince Albert. It had a 70 ft wide river entrance. It was enlarged 1858 and again in 1902. The river entrance eventually fell into disuse and was sealed up. The dock was used as a repair berth and for grain discharge, housing a 63,000 ton capacity grain silo. The dock itself fell into disuse and closed in 1972. In 1986 the grain silo was demolished.

This and the other docks in the southern system used to be owned by British Waterways, but ownership transferred to the Canal & River Trust, who still own it. Now regenerated part of the dock is set aside for moorings within Liverpool Marina. Mariner's Wharf, on the north quayside was built between 1989-97.

The apartments you can see on the left of the photo are mainly two bedroomed, they are available to rent for just short of £1000 a month.

Thank you for your visit and your comments, they are greatly appreciated.
