Minute amounts of water, windfall samples - organic and mineral - are collected from the very landscape depicted within each picture - and chemically bonded with the film over 12 months. The result: a developed film and unedited, printed images that are somewhere between a classic photograph and a totally abstract image, depicting the interaction between fundamental chemical elements present at each place & time, representing a more visceral and literal experience of being present in landscapes in a constant state of natural or unnatural flux.

For this model, I used a striped pattern paper and I liked some parts of the stripes more than others. The parts where the units intersect look like flowers .❤️ 紙はストライプ色がきれいで、こういうふうにアレンジしました。ちょっと変わったかも知れません。(笑)⭐

For this model, I used solid colours and one with lots of white in it (two types of design paper). I find it difficult to fold with paper that has a lot of white in it because it kinda interferes with how the final model looks like. .
紙は青色と白いデザインを使っています。白いデザインをきれいに折る事はなかなか出来なくて、こういうふうにアレンジしました。ちょっと変わったかも知れません。(笑)⭐

Michael Rawling’s Elemental Series uses Film, and Found Materials at each photograph’s location to create a new type of Landscape artwork.

Tiny amounts of water, organic and mineral samples are collected at the site of the photograph, from the very landscape depicted within the picture - and chemically bonded with the film over 9-12 months. The resulting raw photograph, sometimes figurative, sometimes totally abstract or somewhere in between, is more throughly representative of our real, visceral experience of the elements and our changing landscape.
