One of the most popular 35mm cameras in history. The C3, also known as "the brick" was produced from 1939 to 1966, and sold over 2.2 million units.

Easy to find in America, but less common here in the UK. I'm very grateful to my parents-in-law for bringing one over at Christmas, along with a Micro-Nikkor lens.

Photographed with a Nikon Micro-Nikkor 55mm f2.8.

L'un des plus petits azurés

I picked this little beauty up at a thrift store the other day. I am adding it to my collection of vintage cameras.

It is an Argus match-matic c-3 rangefinder film camera. By looking at the serial number, it was most likely manufactured sometime in the early 1950's.

It is in pretty good condition, and I do believe it can still produce pictures. I might have to try it out if I can get ahold of some film that is.

Have a wonderful day everyone!

Brown Argus [Aricia agestis]

LEPIDOPTERA > Papilionoidea (Butterflies) >

Lycaenlidae > Polyommatinae

Having never photographed or taken much interest in British butterflies before, I will probably be posting quite a few ‘record shots’ like these as I’m currently at the stage of finding and identifying species. I haven’t done too badly as I’ve now photographed twenty different species over the past three weeks. Better – more pleasingly composed – photos will follow, hopefully!

This is a new 'tick' for my local spot. I see the brown argus quite often in various places around Somerset, but this is the first time I've seen one here.

I'm having a lot more fun than I imagined I would with my Argus C3 rangefinder. Intentional double exposures are easy with this camera because film advance and shutter cocking are separate operations.
