I JUST loaded some film in my Argus last week, and now this ad is up on the bus stops of Providence!
This is a Post War Argus A2B camera left to me by my Grandfather, a journalist in the Pacific War. I shot with my Canon 30D and a 28-70 lens. I was able to shoot a roll through it with mixed results and now it sits as a collectors camera only.
I'm always an optimist at inconvenient times, such as when bidding on a camera on ebay. The seller said the shutter worked and the inside was very clean but that she couldn't guarantee the camera would take pictures, right? Well it Does seem to take pictures, but the film advance wind is really effing uptight, and instead of advancing the film, it's tearing it. I sent a message to an Argus camera collector group about it and hopefully they'll have a solution. Otherwise I'm going to take the mofo apart (slowly and carefully), clean and lubricate it, and see if that makes any difference. I've got nothing to lose.
Produced between the late 30's and the late 50's. Mine is from 1952 according to the serial number and features.m This is my most recent camera purchase. I just finished running a second roll through it. The first roll came out pretty good, most of my pictures were underexposed, but there were a few keepers. I brought out my old Vivitar 43 light meter, so this next roll should be better.
