I didn't need another camera. Stopped into my favourite salvage store and found this one with a $10 price tag. Has original leather cover to boot. I was checking it out and when I opened up the back I discovered it contained a roll of film (pictured). Bonus! I shut the back quickly, fearing I had ruined what might be there. I bought it. Later I realized it was an unexposed spooled roll of 620 film, Kodacolor-X, which I learned was discontinued in 1974. So I shot it, intentionally looking for a variety of colours and light.

I had it processed by Blue Moon Camera and they were able to salvage (print) six of the twelve frames. I may try scanning the negatives myself to see if I can bring something out of the remaining frames. The results will follow, along with some digital "enhancements" of some of the images. Most of the colour is gone, except for a faded blue. I am not disappointed, the results are very interesting. Fiftyish year old film.

Shot here with the iPhone.

If you hadn't seen this picture, you probably wouldn't have believed me if I told you I had a camera that could be confused with a feminine hygiene product.

The Lady Carefree is a plastic camera for 126 film cartridges. It wasn't actually made by Argus, but for Argus, by Balda-Werke (Germany) around 1967.

A similar Argus model, the 260, was apparently built for Argus by Mamiya in Japan.

Maybe this one was too?

Test roll soon...

soon is now!

Always so beautiful and photogenic this little blue Argus, but the most extraordinary is its life cycle!

After hanging eggs and hatching, the larvae feed on the host plant and then fall to the ground on the path of ants, which take them for their own, bring them into the anthill and feed them copiously. !

But on D-day when the butterfly comes out of its chrysalis and has to get out of the anthill in the open air, it is better to do it quickly before the ants can see the trickery!

Otherwise it will end at the menu of the day.

It stopped raining and cleared up this morning.

The silver-studded blue (Plebejus argus) is a butterfly in the family Lycaenidae. It occurs throughout the Palearctic ecozone.
