the "Hello world!" of physical computing, apparently...getting an LED to flash. mission accomplished, in that case.
the LED was "salvaged" from an old wall-wart power adapter, which i quite brutally cracked open with force as the screws were non-standard.
i did manage to nicely separate the two conjoined boards anyway with a tad of patience and my trusty leatherman. yes, definitely need a trip to maplin for sensors, resistors, and some more appropriate tools i think.
i use arduino on my ibook(mac osx 10.4.8),connect flash use Jowan Sebastian's serial server(ss6),but now,ss6 can't connect flash and arduino.
(and and allready put sth to my java folder)

On the left is a hunk of perfboard holding a transistor for each of the three colors: Red, Green, and Blue. Yes, there are extra resistors there, I had to change the values when my shipment of LEDs didn't match the LED with which I'd been testing the circuit.
An Arduino clone (a Freeduino-SB from Solarbotics) powering a dual-digit common cathode 7 segment display using two 74HC595 shift registers. I can control 16 LEDs with only three Arduino outputs. With the two additional 74HC595 ICs I can drive the next two digits, all from the same three output pins.

This is the top view of how the ATMEL STK500 development board must be configured to work as Arduino.
More details at
Instructions to follow, but basically the 'TellyMate' arduino (left in pic) is running Nigel Batten's firmware for the Batsocks TellyMate shield, and not the usual Arduino bootloader, so it has to be flashed into the ATmega chip. If you don't have a programmer (such as USBtinyISP, AVRISP) then this is the tricky bit, but it can be done.
'Jumpers' (Analogue inputs ADC0-ADC5) are set so as to expect serial input at 57600kbps and generate PAL output.
Not shown in the pic, but the TellyMate arduino should have its power jumper set to EXT (not USB).
I just finished my Breadboard Arduino, I programmed the chip with the blink example using a reugular Arduino.
Arduino for triggering the camera. The focus-first-take-a-picture-after sequence is working as it should. Just not the triggering of the actuall camera.
So, this is the Arduino mood cue thing, that you find in the starter set book. You wire up a potentiometer to a servo motor which then swivels the arm around. I'm getting a little bored of just wiring up and coding the things in the book so I decided to build on it and make something of my own.
