Sunset at Arches National Park - I tried to do an unpretentious HDR here. See more of my work at http:www.ruedis.ch
Natural rock archway at low tide. Taken at Sandyhills and is a blend of 3 exposures. I used a super wide angle lens and tripod and cable release. The tide turned soon after.
This archway, leading to a pub, estate agents, microbrewery and the river, has always struck me as an odd one! It bears no similarity to the buildings on either side and appears to be an elaborate archway built just to ‘fill in the gap’!
It was painted afresh some four years ago or so but is looking in need of a good clean at the moment. I am unable to find out any history as to its construction.
With this posting, my good Flickr friends, I end my long, 58-image series on the wonderful Ice Caves of northern Wisconsin...
I think I saved the best for last-- a pristine view of frozen Lake Superior, featuring the high sandstone archway of a large ice cave. It's been a great ride-- both in the experience of actually exploring the caves, as well as in sharing them with you through the world-wide medium of Flickr! I hope you've enjoyed it as much as I have enjoyed sharing the images with you.
A sincere THANK YOU to everyone who took the time to view and to comment on so many of them!! It was an honor to have some images actually make the Explore 500 :)
Of course I have hundreds more, but this is enough for now. I will throw some in the mix of my postings every once in a while for good measure. Now it's on to birds, the Horicon Marsh, the Lake Michigan lakefront, and to the farms, animals, and scenes of lovely rural Wisconsin.
Blessing to all of you!
Trying to find out more about this fine very old archway and steps, that are opposite All Saints' Church, one if the very oldest churches in Liverpool.

It's been 3 years since I could get over again to Iceland again, with Covid hitting us, so this trip was much needed!
Over the course of 8 days we did struggle at times with some absolutely foul weather and winds into to 80/90mph region at times but despite all the we managed to see the Aurora again twice and I visited about 4 ace new locations that I had never been to before, so I'm not one to complain!
This is one of the spots I hadn't been to before due to road closues on previous visits, it's sat at the West end of in the far South of the Island, and this is the only place you can up above it, with (remarkably) hardly any wind this morning it was perfect for a very long exposure giving a surreal look to proceedings, NiSi 10stop filter plud 4 stop medium GND filter. I took some 'regular' images as well but given that you might not get these conditions on any other visits this was the image I wanted the most. It's quite a precarious spot to be perched to take this so you really do not want ANY wind!
