Mining tycoon George Coleman built this theater along Route 66 in 1929 as a place for travelers to stop along their journey. The elaborately decorated arena showed movies as well as hosting music and Vaudeville acts. It is listed on the National Register of Historic Places.

Before the Taj Mahal there was Humayan's Tomb, the first of the great Mughal garden tombs built in 1570. This is one of the first places I visited when I arrived in India. We arrived early afternoon after an overnight flight, but as we had only two nights in Delhi, I was not about to waste daylight hours sleeping. I hired a taxi for the afternoon to take me around three locations (of which this was one). As I recall, the taxi fare for the entire afternoon (including a generous percentage tip) was £7.
