This bridge on the right is the Medora covered bridge in Jackson county IN. It spans the east fork of White River. It is the longest covered bridge in the US. at 458 ft. It was built in 1875 and is made with 3 Burr arches. The new bridge on the left was built much later when the state highway decided to bypass the covered bridge due to safety issues.

Fashion Design District in Ghurnata | Curated by Mental Flame within the wider Heliopolis Design District led by Design Point Egypt
In this installation, contemporary fabric architecture rises against the backdrop of historic Heliopolis, creating a dialogue between old and new.
The flowing drapery forms a temporary pavilion that softens the rigidity of the urban fabric, while the heritage tower behind it anchors the scene in the city’s architectural memory.
The result is a spatial moment where past and present overlap, modern expression layered over historical context, revealing how contemporary design can reinterpret and coexist with heritage rather than replace it.

A small Andean church at the foothills of Nevado Sajama, the highest peak in Bolivia, at 6.542 ma.s.l.
at the foot of trinità dei monti, beneath the stone weight of centuries, they sang.
not loud—bright. not wild—together. a fire in each hand, a voice in each face.
the night before the exams is not just a rite. it is release, resistance, ritual.
the wall doesn’t answer, but it holds the sound. and above it all, rome listens in silence.

Mineral bath & Spa In Samedan, Engadin, Switzerland. Architects: Miller & Maranta. Completed in 2009. The spa is located in Samedan’s historic town center and next to the baroque town church. The church tower (built between 1770 and 1773) is visible behind the modern facade of the spa building - a nice architectural contrast.

In the Dublin Docklands, a captivating picture emerges, where an old building stands in front of a backdrop of a new, towering structure. This juxtaposition represents the area's remarkable transformation from a declining industrial zone to a vibrant business and residential district. The Docklands has undergone extensive redevelopment, replacing dilapidated warehouses with modern office buildings, residential complexes, retail spaces, and cultural venues. Now a financial and business hub, the Dublin Docklands attracts national and international companies, particularly in finance and technology – Dublin Docklands, Dublin, Republic of Ireland

Tbilisi is the capital and largest city of Georgia, situated in the eastern part of the country on the banks of the Kura River. With a rich history spanning over 1,500 years, Tbilisi has been shaped by numerous cultures and civilizations over the centuries. The old part of Tbilisi, known for its charming architecture and unique atmosphere, is one of the most captivating areas of the city. In contrast, the Peace Bridge is a strikingly modern architectural marvel and one of Tbilisi’s most recognizable landmarks. Completed in 2010, the bridge was designed by Italian architect Michele de Lucchi, with lighting by French designer Philippe Martinaud. It spans the Kura River, connecting the old town with the newer districts, and serves as an important pedestrian route and a symbol of the city. The bridge’s design is particularly remarkable, featuring a glass canopy that curves gracefully over the walkway. Often compared to a giant glass wave or a sea creature, the canopy is made of steel and glass and is illuminated at night by thousands of LED lights. These lights create a breathtaking visual display and are programmed to transmit messages in Morse code, conveying universal symbols of life and peace. The Bridge of Peace is not only a functional structure but also a symbolic monument. It embodies the connection between the old and modern parts of Tbilisi and serves as a metaphor for the city’s progress toward peace and unity. The bridge is a popular spot for both locals and tourists, offering stunning views of the city, including the nearby Narikala Fortress, the Presidential Palace and air balloon.
The Peace Bridge in Tbilisi, Georgia, is located in the heart of the city, spanning the Kura River. Its futuristic design stands in sharp contrast to the surrounding historic architecture, making it a powerful symbol of Tbilisi’s dynamic blend of tradition and modernity. The air balloon in Tbilisi offers a unique way to view the city from above, providing passengers with panoramic views of the capital's historic and modern districts. Located near Rike Park, the balloon ascends to a height of around 150 meters, offering an unforgettable experience and stunning perspectives of iconic landmarks like the Narikala Fortress and the Peace Bridge. It’s a popular attraction for both tourists and locals looking to experience the beauty of Tbilisi from the sky.
Looking up from the center of L.A's Pershing Square, one can see the sharp contrast of the contemporary structures of the City of Angels to the detailed facades from the buildings in the historic core section!
Looking out, did not work out as XPAN
A calm, minimal frame of the Filmhochschule München. Clean lines, soft light, and just enough contrast to make the geometry pop — a quiet take on contemporary German architecture.
Focusing on the details, this photograph raises the question of visual appeal: the sleek, modern façade of the Tour Paradis stands in stark contrast to the curved lines and textured charm of the art deco apartment block in front of it. Whether harmonious or jarring, this juxtaposition is a striking example of how old and new coexist in the urban fabric of Liège – Belgium.
In photographing this facade, I wanted to transform a modern building into an abstract visual score. My photographic approach reveals the hidden musicality in urban architecture, where windows of different sizes become notes on a vertical staff. I chose black and white to emphasize pure geometry and contrasts, while my tight framing eliminates any superfluous context to keep only the rhythmic essence of the structure.
