The Science Museum of Western Virginia, in Roanoke, Virginia, has an exhibit on the science of video games called Pixel Play. There are at least 30 arcade games from the 1980s in the exhibit, and you can play any of them (the only cost is the museum entrance fee). Shades of my youth!
...you get to enter in whatever obscene word you can spell in 3 letters or less if you get in the high scores. I put my little stamp on the world at large earlier tonight as I played Missile Command at an arcade. I outdid the rest with my 11,915 points.

A few weeks ago my 10 year old and I hung out at Big Al's in Fishers Landing on the east side of Vancouver.
I wouldn't be surprised if you're racing against others on the nearby consoles.
I also wouldn't be surprised if you're not actually racing, but just betting and watching like at a real racecourse.
Note the ashtray. Yeah... arcades in Japan aren't quite like ours. Different age range, different clientele.
