A couple of views of a young comrorant that was fishing in the rock pools at Maer Rocks Exmouth. It didn't seem worried by me at all.
A large and conspicuous waterbird, the cormorant has an almost primitive appearance with its long neck making it appear reptilian. It is often seen standing with its wings held out to dry. Regarded by some as black, sinister and greedy, cormorants are supreme fishers which can bring them into conflict with anglers and they have been persecuted in the past. The UK holds internationally important wintering numbers.
With warmer temperatures these past several days, this wildflower was able to make an appearance...... just barely breaking through the snow cover.
End of an era… The Bullied ‘Pacific’ No. 70 ‘Elizabeth II’ in Royal purple livery before it reverts to its BR lined green No. 34027 ‘Taw Valley’. The repainting of this heritage locomotive into purple for the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee in June delighted thousands of members of the public since its first appearance in May. The loco is seen approaching Hampton Loade station with a service from Kidderminster to Bridgnorth during the Severn Valley Railway’s autumn steam gala on 15th September 2022.

The White Cliffs of Dover, part of the North Downs formation, is the name given to the region of English coastline facing the Strait of Dover and France. The cliff face, which reaches a height of 350 feet (110 m), owes its striking appearance to its composition of chalk accented by streaks of black flint. The cliffs, on both sides of the town of Dover in Kent, stretch for eight miles (13 km). A section of coastline encompassing the cliffs was purchased by the National Trust in 2016.
The cliffs are part of the Dover to Kingsdown Cliffs Site of Special Scientific Interest and Special Area of Conservation.

A very rare appearance at Bolsa Chica and my first ever encounter with the tricolored heron.
This juvenile was fishing with the skills resembling both snowy egret and reddish heron and then took off to try his luck at the different fishing spot :-) @ Bolsa Chica Ecological Reserve
It was very foggy this morning on our walk. This created some fresh looks of the landscape, and gave the macros a dark, moody appearance.

While the 611 is pretty much the center of attention wherever it goes, this time we get a glimpse of it in a cameo appearance as Amtrak 80 outruns it over the Yadkin River Bridge. Quite interesting to note the contrast between the vintage and contemporary passenger consists.

Van der Pekbuurt (neighbourhood).
During the entire renovation of this neighbourhood, the historic appearance of the outside of the houses has been restored. The new wooden doors, windows and frames have the original colours from the 1920s: ocher yellow, dark green and red brown.
The turtles have made their appearance and when the sun is out chooses their favorite log to enjoy the warmth...
Though they normally make an appearance every 2 hours, I still enjoy shooting the CD Railjets on the Semmering, their bright blue paint job just pops in wide scenic shots. Sadly at the moment several train pairs are cancelled due the the recently reintroduced Covid border controls so their appareance was a little less frequent on my last visit. A pumpkin is a cultivated winter squash in the genus Cucurbita. The term is most commonly applied to round, orange-colored squash varieties, but does not possess a scientific definition. It may be used in reference to many different squashes of varied appearance and belonging to multiple species in the Cucurbita genus. grokipedia.com/page/Pumpkin

The Thrush-like Wren is 6.5 to 7 inches in length. It inhabits dry forests, scrublands, and semi-arid regions, thriving among thorny vegetation and open landscapes. Known for its thrush-like appearance and melodious songs, this bird captivates with its subtle plumage and lively presence. I love how this photo captures the bird in the shade while its face is perfectly illuminated by sunlight, accentuating its striking red eye.

Greater Necklaced Laughingthrush is in a different genus than Lesser Necklaced Laughingthrush despite the similar common name and the similar appearance. A distinguishing feature of this species is the yellow eyering. This sighting was at a blind (hide) near Kaeng Krachan National Park in Phetchaburi province, Thailand.

Eastern Township Bank, 5 South Principale Street: The erection of a bank in Sutton is the direct result of the economic and industrial development that followed the arrival of the train. In 1902 the Eastern Townships Bank was the first to be established. The building, built in 1912, has most of its original Beaux-Arts features: spare volumes but highly ornamental elements in the top part of the façade which recall the Antiquity style. Their grandiose appearance bears witness to the imposing presence and wealth of banks. This building is a model that was widely used among Eastern Townships Bank branches throughout the country.

St James's Church at West Malvern sits on the western slope of the Malvern Hills. The church was originally built in 1841, but was completely replaced by the larger present building by G.E. Street in 1870.
The church has a distinctive appearance with its unusual saddleback-roofed south tower and has a spacious interior typical of its date. It is usually kept open and welcoming to visitors.

The Japanese paradise flycatcher is similar in appearance to both the Amur paradise flycatcher and Blyth's paradise flycatcher, but is slightly smaller. Mature males have a black hood with a purplish-blue gloss which shades into blackish-grey on the chest. The underparts are off-white to white.
The mantle, back, wings and rump are plain dark chestnut. The tail has extremely long black central feathers, which are shorter in immature males. Unlike the Asian paradise flycatcher there is no white morph. The female resembles the male but is duller and darker brown on the chestnut areas. It has black legs and feet, a large black eye with a blue eye-ring, and a short blue bill.

Only saw one Indian roller.
The Indian roller (Coracias benghalensis) is a bird of the family Coraciidae. It is 30–34 cm (12–13 in) long with a wingspan of 65–74 cm (26–29 in) and weighs 166–176 g (5.9–6.2 oz). The face and throat are pinkish, the head and back are brown, with blue on the rump and contrasting light and dark blue on the wings and tail. The bright blue markings on the wing are prominent in flight. The sexes are similar in appearance. Two subspecies are recognized.
The Indian roller occurs widely from West Asia to the Indian subcontinent. Often found perched on roadside trees and wires, it is common in open grassland and scrub forest habitats and has adapted well to human-modified landscapes.
It mainly feeds on insects, especially beetles. The species is best known for the aerobatic displays of males during the breeding season. Adult males and females form pair bonds and raise the young together. The roller is the state bird of three Indian states. It is listed as a species of least concern on the IUCN Red List. – Wikipedia

207012 passes through the rolling Sussex countryside near Buxted with the 1036 Victoria to Uckfield service.
The class 207s were built at Eastleigh in 1962 and were diesel electric multiple units
They were built to operate the:
-Oxted and East Sussex lines
-Victoria, East Grinstead, Tunbridge Wells and Brighton via Uckfield
-Hastings to Ashford
Originally known as the 'Oxted' units, they quickly became known as the 'Sussex' units and for the first 20 years of their life they were unusual (though not unknown) outside of East and West Sussex.
Unlike all of the other DEMU builds, the BTC design panel was involved in the design of the front end of these units, giving them a more sculpted appearance than the slab-fronted design of other DEMUs.
This was my first ever image in print - appearing in Rail Magazine in October or November 1987. I remember being very proud at the time!
Small, sprightly shorebird. Breeding plumage shows rusty tones on upperparts, often with a frosty appearance when fresh. By mid-summer, the frosty feather tips fade away and the neck can be deep, rich red—not to be confused with the much smaller Red-necked Stint! Very pale in winter. Juveniles are nearly spangled with black-and-white above. At all seasons, note larger size and somewhat thicker bill than other peeps or stints, along with bold white wing stripe in flight. Flocks are usually seen on open beaches, well known for running back-and-forth chasing waves and feeding actively in the sand. Also occurs on mudflats, especially in migration. Extensive global range, breeding on high Arctic tundra and wintering on coastlines on every continent except Antarctica. (eBird)

While we were waiting for a rare Brown Booby to return to its favourite perch in Lake Ontario, a flock of twenty Sanderlings materialized out of nowhere almost below our feet. They were tired and did not want to get their feet wet so stayed higher up on the beach than usual. Spoiler alert - the Booby did show up but way too far out to get a photograph. We did see it in the scope.

Porthgwarra is a relatively unknown Cornish Cove, largely owned by Lord St Levan (of St. Michael’s Mount). It is located just under 3 miles southeast of Land’s End. Once a thriving fishing cove, it now enjoys a peaceful existence surrounded by local wildlife.
Porthgwarra Beach is a popular spot for birdwatching, with a variety of seabirds and raptors visible from the cliffs. Dolphins or seals can sometimes be seen in the sea too. At low tide there is a very small beach, with an array of interesting rock pools and caves. Swimming is relatively safe within the confines of the Cove.
One of Porthgwarra's most interesting features is the cave running through part of the cliff; there is a rope to hang on to as it is treacherously slippery. Sometimes in the evening, bats may be seen flying in and out of the cave.
Porthgwarra Beach has a rich history, and visitors can explore the cove's network of tunnels which were once used for smuggling. There are also lots of reminders of Porthgwarra's fishing heritage, although today only one boat regularly works crab pots from there. However, its appearance in the hit TV series, Poldark, has gone some way to preserving memories of the harsh realities of fishing for pilchards in the eighteenth century.
