More wabi-sabi, and yet another tulip; there appears to be no end to these tulips, as I've got another dozed or so in this batch, and two more batches coming up right behind them!
What I like here is the way the petals seem to almost swirl around the curving stem, as if it were doing the twist, pointing to the two top corners, and those blue "eyes" in the pistils.
The result of a multi-image focus stack, this image should reward pretty close examination. Maximum viewing size on your computer can be found by opening the image in a separate window, making that window maximum size, typing the letter "L" on the keyboard, and then clicking the cursor as long as a '+' appears in it, typically twice.
If you find this image to your liking, you can find more wabi-sabi - and an account of my understanding of the meaning of that term - in my wabi-sabi album, more tulips in my Tulips album, and more dancing flowers in my Tiny Dancers album.
BTW, I've taken to putting a white rim around these images on black because, on my iPhone flickr app, it is otherwise difficult to discern the image's edges. I made it tiny because, while large mats look lovely on my desktop monitor, they make it hard for my tired old eyes to view an image on my iPhone's small screen.

Standing at the viewpoint, waiting for blue hour, there suddenly appeared an amazing display of colour in the sky just as the sun was setting and the lights went on in Tromsø.

One rock formation appears to be whispering a secret to the other formation. Evidently the secret was not welcome.
This bird appeared in the early light in the Point Traverse woods and the day was set. As we enter our first deep freeze of the winter here the reminders of spring migration and the seasonal warming of our part of the world seem important.
Despite having a high and complex canopy, the woods at Point Traverse have a very varied range of habitats. The birds that like to (or need to) come in low have lots of fallen trees and Red Cedars, which can make a great setting for the birds.
Sharks mouth now appears to be getting a 'punch' from fists added to the nose!

The palace was built using the stones of the former Coronation Cathedral of the Virgin Mary Provost Church. The building lasted more than twenty years which explains why Louis Seize style ornaments appeared on the mainly baroque building.
The architect of the palace was Jakab Riedel and it had become one of the most significant Louis Seize style building in Hungary. On the facade the bishop's coat-of arms can be seen. Its furniture is Empire and Biedermeier style. The library contains 40000 volumes- codices, incunables. The palace garden reaches the castlewall hiding the unexplored parts of the Coronation Basilica.

My mind has been all over the place with images which have appeared to me in this very old tree trunk which I photographed in a nearby park. From torah finials to Vishnu avatars . . . the symbolism and metaphors have grabbed me deeply, especially during this horrendous, unsettling political time . . .
From LOTUS SCULPTURE I quote:
"Vishnu is one of the principal Hindu deities, worshiped as the protector and preserver of the world and restorer of dharma (moral order). He is known chiefly through his avatars (incarnations), particularly Rama, Krishna and Buddha.
In theory, Vishnu manifests a portion of himself anytime he is needed to fight evil, and his appearances are innumerable;
but in practice, ten incarnations are most commonly recognized."
Right before sunrise, a BNSF intermodal curves along the Needles Sub as it approaches Siberia. I climbed this hill with a somewhat different shot in mind, and as I walked past this composition the thought came into my head that if a train showed up before the sun rose, this shot was probably the best I could do. I couldn't see any trains coming out of Amboy, so unless one was hiding at Bagdad which I couldn't see, there were no trains out there. I continued up the hill, but 30 seconds later I was shocked to see a train appear, coming out of Bagdad. I returned to the prior composition and bagged the shot. It wasn't until I got home that I realized I'd taken one of my all time favorite photos.
This photo feels somewhat transformational to me and my approach to photography. It was a result of a completely spontaneous overnight train trip. In recent years, I could always talk myself out of going trackside. Rather than my normal square peg in a round hole approach to photography I was flexible and honest with myself, choosing this shot (which I had previously not known existed) over other shots I've dreamed to for this area that honestly just don't work. But this one does. The most transformational thing may be that I'm finally feeling a little motivation and excitement about photographing trains locally again. If this photograph is an omen of things to come, 2025 could have a lot of great shots in it
It would appear that, as the title states I have a passion for the posts at the Uphill end of Weston Supper Mare beach. Whatever the weather they help to make the beach an amazing photographic subject.

----------------------------- JESUS ✝️ SAVES-------------------------------
SALVATION THROUGH FAITH IN JESUS CHRIST - ALONE!
12 Salvation is found in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven given to men by which we must be saved."
❤️❤️ IT'S ALL JESUS AND NONE OF OURSELVES! ❤️❤️
16 I am not ashamed of the gospel, because it is the power of God for the SALVATION of everyone WHO BELIEVES: first for the Jew, then for the Gentile. 17 For in the gospel a RIGHTEOUSNESS FROM GOD IS REVEALED, a righteousness that is by FAITH FROM FIRST TO LAST, just as it is written: "THE RIGHTEOUS WILL LIVE BY FAITH." (Romans 1:16-17)
16 KNOW that a man is NOT justified by observing the law, but by FAITH IN JESUS CHRIST. So we, too, have put our faith in Christ Jesus that we may be JUSTIFIED BY FAITH in CHRIST and NOT by observing the law, BECAUSE BY OBSERVING THE LAW NO ONE WILL BE JUSTIFIED. (Galatians 2:16)
1. Now, brothers, I want to remind you of the gospel I preached to you, which you received and on which you have taken your stand. 2. BY THIS GOSPEL YOU ARE SAVED, if you hold firmly to the word I preached to you. Otherwise, you have believed in vain.
3. For what I received I passed on to you as of first importance: that Christ died for our sins according to the Scriptures, 4. that he was buried, that he was raised on the third day according to the Scriptures, 5. and that he appeared to Peter, and then to the Twelve. 6. After that, he appeared to more than five hundred of the brothers at the same time, most of whom are still living, though some have fallen asleep. 7. Then he appeared to James, then to all the apostles, 8. and last of all he appeared to me also, as to one abnormally born.
9. For I am the least of the apostles and do not even deserve to be called an apostle, because I persecuted the church of God. 10. But by the grace of God I am what I am, and his grace to me was not without effect. No, I worked harder than all of them--yet not I, but the grace of God that was with me. 11. Whether, then, it was I or they, this is what we preach, and this is what you believed. (1 Corinthians 15:1-11)
7. Therefore Jesus said again, "I tell you the truth, I am the gate for the sheep. 8. All who ever came before me were thieves and robbers, but the sheep did not listen to them. 9. I am the gate; whoever enters through me WILL BE SAVED. He will come in and go out, and find pasture. 10. The thief comes only to STEAL and KILL and DESTROY; I have come that they may have LIFE, and have it to the FULL. (John 10:7-10)
1 Brothers, my heart's desire and prayer to God for the Israelites is that they may be saved. 2 For I can testify about them that they are zealous for God, but their zeal is not based on knowledge. 3 Since they did not know the righteousness that comes from God and sought to establish their own, they did not submit to God's righteousness. 4 Christ is the end of the law so that there may be righteousness for everyone who believes.
5 Moses describes in this way the righteousness that is by the law: "The man who does these things will live by them." 6 But the righteousness that is by faith says: "Do not say in your heart, 'Who will ascend into heaven?'" (that is, to bring Christ down) 7 "or 'Who will descend into the deep?'" (that is, to bring Christ up from the dead). 8 But what does it say? "The word is near you; it is in your mouth and in your heart," that is, the word of faith we are proclaiming: 9 That if you confess with your mouth, "Jesus is Lord," and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. 10 For it is with your heart that you believe and are justified, and it is with your mouth that you confess and are saved. 11 As the Scripture says, "Anyone who trusts in him will never be put to shame." 12 For there is no difference between Jew and Gentile--the same Lord is Lord of all and richly blesses all who call on him, 13 for, "Everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved." (Romans 10:1-13)
Jesus came to bring spiritual LIFE to the spiritually dead and set the captives FREE! FREE from RELIGION, ERROR and outright LIES, so WE might serve THE LIVING GOD! In SPIRIT and in TRUTH!
So you'll KNOW, and not think you're to bad for God to love. The Christian LIFE isn't about how good WE are, because NONE of us are! It's about how GOOD JESUS IS! Because JESUS LOVES US, so much he died in our place and took the punishment for all of our sins on himself. The wages of sin is DEATH, and Jesus took the death WE so richly deserved for us and died in our place. The good news is, there's no more punishment for sin left. WE, you and I were all born forgive as a result of the crucifixion of God himself on the cross that took away the sins of the whole world. All we have to do is believe it, and put your Faith in the finished work of Jesus Christ. That my friends is REAL UNCONDITIONAL LOVE! YOU ARE LOVED. ❤️ ✝️ ❤️

They say she appears only when winter grows weary of pretending to be gentle.
Her gown is woven from frost and fallen snow, her mask carved from ice so precise it knows the exact shape of secrets. Behind intricate filigree, her eyes hold the weight of a thousand silent storms.
No one knows who she was before the cold claimed her—or if she was ever anything but winter incarnate. Some say she's a warning. Others, a wish made by someone who wanted to feel nothing at all.
She moves through the forest without sound, leaving only questions in her wake.
What transforms a woman into a season?
And can she ever thaw?
After tramping for two days on Mount Taranaki, the cloud finally cleared for this reveal just before sunset. Taken from Holly Hut on the Pouakai Crossing. I am intrigued by that very large slab-like structure near the top on the right - it looks like it may collapse at any time! Be great if anyone knows what this feature is called? (Update: I think it's called the Turtle)
"Egmont National Park is a mountainous area that encompasses three volcanic cones. The main peak of Mount Taranaki (2,518 m) forms the nucleus of the park. It is the most recent and only active volcanic peak in the park, although it is now considered dormant. Because it is considered one of the most symmetrical mountains in the world, it is a very distinctive landmark. The other two volcanic cones, which are now extinct, form the basis of the Pouakai and Kaitake Ranges in the north-western part of the park." www.doc.govt.nz/parks-and-recreation/places-to-go/taranak...
it appeared this morning that i'd been mysteriously gifted with a cow -- turns out she's an escapee from a nearby ranch -- she apparently hops over a 4-foot fence to get out!
I appear to have become somewhat addicted to lampwork glass beads recently. This one was made by a lovely lady in Scotland. I often wish I was creative. To be fair, I am creative in my mind, but my hands don't necessarily get the message. :)
It was a frosty morning on the common but these trees still maintain their Autumn leaves and lit up by the sun it appeared almost as if there were two seasons operating!
It appears that this squirrel is giving thanks for the food it is about to eat. I love catching animals in action. This little guy was quite busy on this nub of a branch eating, nibbling and watching.
We are usually impressed by something big – be it a mighty building, a tall person, or simply an oversized pizza. The big picture asserts itself, takes up space, and demands attention. It appears powerful, loud, and impressive.
But the big picture never stands alone. Beneath its wheels lie countless small stones, inconspicuous and easily overlooked. Each one seems insignificant on its own – and yet together they bear the weight.
The small whispers where the big picture thunders. It lies in the details, in the silence, in the everyday. Without the many small things, the big picture would have no support.

Amanita muscaria, commonly known as the fly agaric or fly amanita, is a basidiomycete of the genus Amanita. Native throughout the temperate and boreal regions of the Northern Hemisphere, Amanita muscaria has been unintentionally introduced to many countries in the Southern Hemisphere, generally as a symbiont with pine and birch plantations, and is now a true cosmopolitan species. It associates with various deciduous and coniferous trees.
Although poisonous, death due to poisoning from A. muscaria ingestion is quite rare. Parboiling twice with water draining weakens its toxicity and breaks down the mushroom's psychoactive substances; it is eaten in parts of Europe, Asia, and North America. All Amanita muscaria varieties, but in particular A. muscaria var. muscaria, are noted for their hallucinogenic properties, with the main psychoactive constituents being muscimol and its neurotoxic precursor ibotenic acid. A local variety of the mushroom was used as an intoxicant and entheogen by the indigenous peoples of Siberia.

Macro Monday theme - Music. This is my daughter's guitar, had to dust it off before I captured it... I like how it looks like I have just strummed the strings!
Hope that the sun shone on you guys today - it was beautiful here in Herfordshire :)
This female Orchard oriole appeared with the male later in the day. They are the smallest of the oriole family. I saw this gal in the pond's stream but liked her pose in the Maple tree with the green background better. The Cornell Labs says these are a later migrant and leave earlier so I may have missed the Baltimores this year.
The dragonflies appeared after about 15mins on the edge of the pond but each time the emperor settled the male chaser would chase it away so no chance of a closer shot. I saw a couple of black-tailed skimmers but they never stopped.
Many thanks to you ALL for the views, faves and comments you make on my shots it is very appreciated
These amazing mushrooms appear very late in the year and can be found throughout winter. Freezing does not harm them and they can pick up their growth again once the temperatures are above zero. They are edible, with the cultivated variety known as Enoki. In the wild there are some very similar, but deadly species, though.
Thank you for your visit, comments and faves. They are much appreciated.
A VSTP appeared this morning from Crewe to WH Davis. Always interesting to see what is going into the wagon workshops. 37218 rumbles down platform 1 working 6E28 0933 Crewe South Yard to Shirebrook Davis & Son.
The letter box crop slightly enforced by the Sony's inability to cope with the contrasting sky, or my inability to get the settings right. I thought about a replacement sky for 2 seconds. In my defence the sun was in and out.
