There are a lot of various pop culture references and easter eggs through out this model. None of them are super overt, and none of them are necessary to enjoying the set. This scene with the desk, typewriter, fan, and picture on the wall is a reference to Barton Fink - hence, the somewhat sweaty fella in the chair there.

The Apollo 11 Command Module, “Columbia,” was the living quarters for the three-person crew during most of the first manned lunar landing mission in July 1969.
