Designed to hunt and destroy tanks, the Apache attack helicopter has significantly improved the Army's operational capability.

Apache can operate in all weathers, day or night and detect, classify and prioritise up to 256 potential targets in a matter of seconds. It carries a mix of weapons including rockets, Hellfire missiles and a 30mm chain gun.

In addition to the distinctive Longbow Radar located above the rotor blades, this aircraft is equipped with a Day TV system, Thermal Imaging sight and Direct View Optics. Defensively it possesses a state of the art fully integrated Defensive Aid Suite

The Boeing AH-64 Apache is a four-blade, twin-engine attack helicopter with a tailwheel-type landing gear arrangement, and a tandem cockpit for a crew of two. The Apache was developed as Model 77 by Hughes Helicopters for the United States Army's Advanced Attack Helicopter program to replace the AH-1 Cobra. First flown on 30 September 1975, the AH-64 features a nose-mounted sensor suite for target acquisition and night vision systems. The Apache is armed with a 30-millimeter (1.2 in) M230 Chain Gun carried between the main landing gear, under the aircraft's forward fuselage. It has four hardpoints mounted on stub-wing pylons, typically carrying a mixture of AGM-114 Hellfire and Hydra 70 rocket pods. The AH-64 also features double- and triple-redundant aircraft systems to improve survivability for the aircraft and crew in combat, as well as improved crash survivability for the pilots.

Chevrolet Apache pickup truck, parked by The Barn Door Co., a great little store by the railroad tracks in Franklin, Tennessee, selling custom framing, reclaimed furniture, art, home decor and antiques. Not sure of the year of the truck, probably mid- to late-1950s. I took dozens of pix from all angle. The owner of the store, who owns the truck, says it is not for sale. (I replaced the first photo uploaded here with one slightly better cropped. The first one cropped the edge of the headlight rim. Not sure why I picked that one instead of this one to process, but thought better of it after I printed one and went back through the images and realized I had one that was better composed in the frame.)

The AH-64 Apache is a twin-engine, four bladed, multimission attack helicopter designed as a highly stable aerial weapons-delivery platform. With a tandem-seated crew consisting of the pilot, located in the rear cockpit position and the co-pilot gunner (CPG), located in the front position. The helicopter is designed as a weapons delivery platform and is equipped with: a M230E1, 30mm automatic gun, aerial rockets system (2.75 inch folding fin), and point target weapons system (Hellfire missiles). It is highly mobile, lethal, and can destroy armor, personnel, and materiel targets in obscured battlefield conditions at ranges out to 8 kilometers. Modifications to the Fire Control Radar (FCR), Radar Frequency Interferometer (RFI), and the Modernized Target Acquisition Designation Sight (M-TADS) enable new capabilities and ensure long-term sustainment. With the addition of improved situational awareness, flight performance, and joint interoperability, the AH-64E has become the most advanced aerial fighting vehicle in the world.
