Once again thank you very much for visits, favorite and comments. It's much appreciated.
Sandhill cranes, lit by the touch of early morning sun, are flying in to feed. Bosque del Apache National Wildlife Refuge, along the Rio Grande floodplain in Southern New Mexico is, arguably, the best known spot in the US to see sandhill cranes, who winter there in large numbers from late November to late February.

I composed this image while travelling Arizona's historic Apache Trail, a winding road through the rugged Superstition Mountains.
Construction of the Apache Trail (known as the Tonto Wagon Road at that time) began in 1903, and followed an ancient Indian footpath. The road was developed to facilitate access to the Roosevelt Dam construction site.
Apache Indians provided most of the labor for this road construction. They lived separately from other crews and often brought their wives and children to live with them to maintain their traditional way of life.
The Apache Trail, originally running from the Mesa railhead to the dam site, was completed on September 3, 1905 at a cost of $551,000.

It was a stressful day of shooting on the Apache but we ended up getting a few sucker holes that made the trip worth it to this western Alco road.
