Bruges è la capitale delle Fiandre occidentali, in Belgio. Il centro storico della città è un importante patrimonio dell'umanità dell'UNESCO. Insieme ad alcune città del nord costituite da canali, come Amsterdam e Stoccolma, si è meritata l’appellativo di "Venezia del Nord". Un tempo, si è considerata la città commerciale leader nel mondo. Nel corso del 15° secolo lo Zwin, la via d'acqua che collega Bruges al mare, si insabbiò. Quando la sede della Lega Anseatica fu spostata ad Anversa alla fine del 15° secolo, molti mercanti la seguirono, lasciando case abbandonate, strade deserte e canali vuoti. Bruges, in precedenza centro commerciale d'Europa, ha dormito per 400 anni. Bruges is the capital of the West Flanders in Belgium. The historic city centre is a prominent World Heritage Site of UNESCO. Along with a few other canal-based northern cities, such as Amsterdam and Stockholm, it is sometimes referred to as "The Venice of the North". At one time, it was considered the "chief commercial city" of the world. During the 15th century the Zwin, the waterway linking Bruges to the sea, silted up. When the headquarters of the Hanseatic League moved from Bruges to Antwerp at the end of the 15th century, many merchants followed, leaving abandoned houses, deserted streets and empty canals. Bruges, a former hub of Europe, slept for 400 years. The city slowly emerged from its slumber in the early 19th century as tourists passed through en route to the Waterloo battlefield near Brussels.

Hier le temps très doux avait un avant-goût de printemps. Un temps parfait pour flâner dans les rues d'Anvers.
